Question ..... is waiting 7 weeks for my first fill after lap-band surgery a long time? I had originally been told i would get my first fill at about 4 weeks post-op but now they have changed it to 7 weeks post-op. I am just a little scared that I will gain some of the weight I have lost being on the liquid pre and post surgery diet.
I am just feeling a little scared today. Any suggestions at all??

I had revision surgery and have to wait 6 weeks. It's been 3+ years since my 1st banding, so I don't really recall it being 6 weeks last time. I would say it's actually better that you have a longer time to heal and really start eating properly with the band. I'm taking these extra weeks to get my eyes wrapped around smaller portions, eating slower and chewing more. It's really helping. Take the opportunity now to work on those issues is my advice. As far as gaining some weight - that is completely normal. Once the swelling goes down, you feel as though you are without a band (like pre-op). It's there, but it's not adjusted to work properly. I lost 17 lbs the 1st week after my revision surgery. I've gained back 7. The 1st go around I lost 25 lbs and gained back 5 before my 1st fill. Don't stress about it. It's normal and is very likely to happen. Work on measuring your meals and eat only those measured amounts. Eat slowly and chew well...it really does help in satisfying your hunger more so than eating fast. I've noticed a HUGE difference myself!! Congrats on your surgery and the best of luck!!
Same here! I just booked my first post surgery appt for April 8th. When I asked the nurse if it was too long to wait to see the doctor or for a first fill she said no that as long as everything is going fine not to worry. She also said that if you go too soon for the first appt sometimes he can't do a fill yet and you have to go back. Good luck.

I actually didn't want a fill at first and waited until I was 3 months out. I lost over 30 pounds just by following the surgeon's plan. No need to be scared about a little gain if you do, because you will lose weight by following what your surgeon is telling you to eat and by exercising. The time will go faster than you can believe! It will be worth the effort!
