My scale must be broken.

I had my first fill and am at 4cc in a 10cc band.  I am still hungry after meals within 2 hours and am looking to eat but trying not too.  If I am starving then I grab things like an orange or some fruit or trail  mix.  I am just drinking water during the day with a coffee in the AM.  I eat my protein first, veggies second and any starch last.   Of course I do grab a piece of dark chocolate now and then.  But my scale isn't moving. I lost 17 in the first 3-4  weeks and not really any since then.  I have noticed my inches are down though cause my clothes are looser.    Hmmmm starting to get a tad frustrated here.   I see others down like 30- 40 lbs by now.   Just venting I guess.  I get my next fill on March 2nd. I hope that I feel a little more restriction by then.

The only thing I can think is in the AM I fix a bowl of Kashi cereal with protein in it and use soy milk.. can the cereal be holding me back?

Try not to get too discouraged by other lap banders stats. Although some do lose quickly and a LOT..........some of the stats they post also includes their pre-band weight loss, so what you think they lost since being banded may not be accurate.

I had 1cc last month in a 10 cc band too. I went today I didn't get a fill. I lost 5 lbs this mon after surgery 20 last month after surgery ..If I count pre surgery it would be more like 50 lbs. They said I'm right where I should be. If I were able to incrperate some more excercise they said I would lose more. I have a carb/calorie book. I really watch what I eat. I don't eat fruit thaey are heavy carbs. I only eat berry family stuff. I also feel hungrey after dinne I have a snack and drink fluids. I was told right from the beginning its a tool, but we have to change our life styles and eat healthy small amounts. You don't want to stretch out the pouch by putting in too much food.. Also I leave the room and distract my thoughts from being interest in eating and it has worked for me.  Good luck with it. I wish you the best..Try more walking or a gum or curves....

I have thought about joining the gym. The Curves in my area don't seem to stay in busines long though so I am very leary about that particular chain. Thought about taking water areobics and Zumba.

You are about six weeks ahead of me...Jan 4 for lap band.  I did the same as you with weight.  Lost almost 20 pounds the first month and since then only 3 pounds in almost a month.  I had a fill at one month which I think was too soon.  I too am very discouraged, but I am not eating as much as you described above yet.

Starting at 250 you are going to lose slower than someone who is heavier...those are the 40 lbs lost in 2 or 3 months...if you are losing inches, you are losing!  Don't get frustrated, but I would suggest substituting a string cheese for the orange or fruit or trail mix...cut the carbs and the weight will start to come off again.

Hey lady, my boss is going through the same frustration (although she hasn't had any fills yet).  We had surgery 3 days apart and I started at 335 and she started 255.  So far, I've lost 40lbs and she's lost 25lbs.  It is true what a previous poster said about heavier folks losing more quickly in the beginning than lighter people.  I like to think of it as our bodies immediately shedding the "excessive extra".  Like in my case, if you think about how many calories my body needed just to support 335, it's no wonder that the initial weight literally flew off when my calories got cut down to around 400-500 during the first weeks after surgery.

So hang in there and just try to stay motivated by thinking about how long it would have taken you to drop that 17lbs without the surgery...for some folks it can take up to 2 months with diet and exercise, if you're losing 2lbs a week.

Hope you feel better

I had surgery july 21, 2010.  I have lost 40lbs since that date.. It has been slow and steady.. My starting weight was low though.. 210.. I dont compare myself to others... EVER... of course as a woman i look at other women and think wow skinny ***** however... I am becoming that girl..
its a slow and steady process... I have had several stalls but no weight regain ever.  Just take it one day at a time and never ever compare yourself for you are a unique individual!!!
Bright Blessings on your WONDERFUL journey!
