Depends on the doc. Mine has always said I could go back after a week. But bear in mind that I have been banded for ages and really know how my band feels!

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

newly banded people its four weeks for us . He wants to make sure before he just starts pumping you up full of fluids. It can at least take 2 weeks for everything to settle down and to see exactly where you stand, but my doc is not aggressive at all when it comes to fills he does not believe in workign the  band that way .

Older ones that know their band and has it had for yrs he pretty much goes along with them since they know their bands.

Hi Lilly,

Ideally you should wait 4 weeks between fills, reason being, fills can sometimes be tricky and sometimes it may take you 3-4 weeks before a fill actually settles in. I've had a fill settle in as long as 4 weeks post op and what if I went back after two weeks, this is how people get too tight and end up damaging the band.

I know it can be frustrating I've been there but you may want to wait 4 weeks between fills for them to settle in completely. If you are feeling absolutely no restriction you may ask your surgeon for a another at weeks, the more saline you get and the more restriction you feel you need to be very careful adding more saline and the more restriction you feel the less saline you will need, you want to sneak up on your fills rather than getting too aggressive and get too tight.

How do you know you have ideal restriction? You will get that light bulb moment and get satisfied on very small amounts and you will not get hungry for about 4-5 hours between meals.

Good luck

As the others have said, it depends on your doctor.

It looks like you are recently banded?  it's not uncommon for the newly banded person not to feel good appetite control for the first few fills.  Hang in there, we know it's tough right now.  Follow the guidelines for eating as closely as you can.  My doctor always allows us more veggies if we're still hungry 20 minutes after finishing our 3oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies.

My surgeon's practice is to only allow fills every 4 weeks.  This is because in his experience, a fill can take up to 2 weeks to make it's presence known.  My last fill kicked in at 10 days.

He also doesn't like to give an adjustment any sooner than 2 weeks from a planned trip.

Hope this is helpful.
Lisa

I saw my doctor every 3 weeks for the first 6 months or so --- I scheduled my next appt before I left the office each time.

Then, I backed it out to every 4 or 5 weeks -- --- now it is every 3 months.

Most want you to wait at least 2 weeks to let the fill settle in -- some people say that they don't feel their fills for a while ---- I always felt it right away.

My Dr is seeing me every 2 weeks right now while we are working on finding proper restriction. I feel you need at least that to really figure out your restriction.

I have always had to wait at least 4 weeks.  Once you get close to a nice restriction, fills can take a couple of weeks to kick in.  Weird, I know.  My fills do take at least a week to kick in, and the last few took two weeks.

My Dr uses a 6 week interval. She put in 2cc on each of the 1st 2 fills then .5cc thereafter. I imagine as I get more restriction it will be smaller amounts.
