Bald Bette, nagging y'all some more!

 Every 3-1/2 minutes,
a child is diagnosed with cancer.
That's 160,000 children each year.

Set 2 - 250x250

Look at that number again . . .

160,000 each year

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation makes grants to research institutions to find new cures for childhood cancer, and to find treatments to ensure a better quality of life for patients and survivors. The Foundation funds research projects conducted by established pediatric cancer experts, as well as younger professionals who will be the experts of tomorrow. Funds also enable hundreds of local institutions to participate in national pediatric cancer clinical trials, offering the best available care for every child.

This is my fifth year of shaving my head for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. I've set a goal of a thousand dollars from friends like you guys who are supporting my tonsorial madness by sponsoring me in this year's St. Baldrick's Day head shaving for kids with cancer. THANK YOU to everyone who has taken time out of their busy day - and dollars out of their wallets - to help me in the fight against childhood cancers. Right now, I'm 3/4 of the way there, with $750+ pledged.

At St. Baldrick’s events, volunteers get bald to raise money and stand in solidarity with kids who typically lose their hair during cancer treatments. Since the first head-shaving event on St. Patrick’s Day in 2000, St. Baldrick’s has contributed more than $50.5 million dollars to pediatric cancer research and held events around the globe. In fact, St. Baldrick's Foundation is second only to the United States government in monies given to fund grants for pediatric cancer research, and Team Brent, of which I am a part, is the number one fund raising team in the nation.

If you are interested in becoming a "shavee", participating as a barber, or just want to learn more, please visit

Or, if you can find it in your heart (or wallet, or pocketbook) to sponsor me in my journey, please visit

and click on the big, green "Make a Donation" box.

Thank you so, so much for your interest and thank you all for your continued support!

Love,
Bette B

Cancer is such a *****! I lost my mother and MIL to pancreatic cancer, and my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer a year after we met. In fact, his surgery for it was a year to the day after our first date. He got really, really lucky that they found it.

I hope that your brother does, indeed, enjoy every minute. (laughs) See if the trust will give him some more cash for goodies!

Ok you bandsters always whine on here about how this is suppose to be a "SUPPORT" forum. Well Bette (and more importantly, the kids with cancer) need your help! You all may struggle with your band...............but it is NOTHING like the struggle that those kids face every day with their medical condition!!!

If u want to call it a "support" forum............show Bette REAL support and help to her help those kids that really need it!

See Maria...another example of where your intent is good but your delivery stinks...calling those of us who expect support on the forum "whiners" and basically chastising us into offering support to kids with cancer is a perfect example of why you need to seriously start taking some constructive criticism!

Ok so chastising is wrong so you want to chastise me? I get it!

Now perhaps it's time for you to receive some constructive criticism. I'm not gonna go all the way back through your threads reading though. You seem to have more time on your hands for those type of things. But what about that poor newbie that was only like a wk. out and was having a problem and was scared. She posted about it and I answered it, as did you. But then.............YOU STARTED A NEW THREAD ABOUT IT MAKING FUN OF HER! Remember that??? It was very cruel! That was a very nice woman that had done NOTHING to you! She didn't band bash. She simply asked a legitimate newbie question. Then she recognized that your thread was about her, and called you on it. She was very hurt! I don't think that poor woman has been back on OH since then!

So much for your "support" of newbies!

Actually it was to offer Bette support and then I noticed you saying that we were all whiners because we expected support.

I have already responded to you about the person I was rude to and that I apologized to her directly in a seperate thread. She was understanding of the fact that I made a mistake and owned it and there were no hard feelings!! She got over it, maybe you should too!

Edited to add:

Here is the post between myself and Tammy:

Tammy...I am so sorry that you bore the brunt of my frustration last night...We have had two deaths in the last two weeks and I have been dealing with my 89 yr old FIL and his 3-5 yr old antics for 3 weeks...just hit a wall and really didn't read your entire post before responding. I hope that you will forgive me my insensitivity and rude post.
You did get a lot of great advice from others and hope you are feeling better this morning.
Again, my sincere apologies.
Stephanie

Goodbye 290, 280, 270, 260, 250, 240, 230....

I absolutely forgive you Stephanie & respect you very much for apologizing!

I'm so sorry to hear about the deaths in your family & struggles of your FIL, I know just how stressful life can get! Try to focus on the positives in your life at this time & be thankful for what you do have. Remembering it could always be worse gets me through a lot of my own life's moments of unhappiness.

So why don't you re-post the ORIGIONAL post you started about that poor woman making fun of her for asking a legitimate band question??? You were EXTREMELY CRUEL to her!

Man, you are quite the hanger on...because I deleted (and replaced the text with my own statement that I deleted it due to inappropriate content) my original post and it is no longer there....wouldn't serve much of a point would it?

BTW it is spelled ORIGINAL  not   ORIGIONAL.

Yes I misspelled that. More to follow I'm sure.

Seems that you don't like it when others point out how "supportive" YOU have been on the band forum! So you deleted the post. That didn't stop the sting for the person that you wrote it too (that if I'm not mistaken left the forum b/c of you).

Btw...........don't you have anything better to do???
