huge NSV for me plus a few small ones......

I have had a few small NSVs in the past few days.
-I wore a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in over two years
-I wore a bra that was too tight when I bought it, now it's too big
-I was approached by two teenagers who are friends with my son, they said they weren't sure it was
me until they looked at my hair because I have lost so much weight

Today I had a MAJOR NSV for me. Before staring losing weight I was very immobile. I used a wheelchair to go anywhere out of the home. I used my power chair to get around the house, even if it was just going to the bathroom. Before surgery I got one of those big walkers with wheels and a seat. I used it a little after surgery but was in a lot of pain so I didn't walk much. Just a short trip down the hall, taking a break, then back to my room.

Some friends of mine are on city counsel and run the local rec center. They offered to let me in to walk whenever I wanted since it's so yucky outside. And they know I am self conscious about being out around a lot of poeple. So, for me to be able to use the rec center when noone was there was a great solution.

I've been getting around the house much better these days. So I decided that I wanted to start trying to walk. We loaded up my walker, the kids and some basketballs and headed to the rec center. My goal was to be able to walk half way around the basketball court before taking a rest. On the first lap I felt so good at the half way point that I kept going. I was able to make it the entire way around the whole court before needing a break. I was able to go around 6 times total, taking a little break in between each lap. And I barely got winded. I was even able to stand up and shot some baskets with my boys.

Now I'm home and my legs, knees, ankles & hips are hurting. But it feels so good.
