I have when I was too tight and didn't chew well enough.

Have you research the VSG? That is another surgery option. Also restrictive.

I have thrown up but not a lot. Most of the time it is a mistake you make like-- eating to fast, too dry, too stressed, not chewing enough , or not cutting it up small enough. Lots to learn and new habits to make.  Everyone is different.

Vomiting on a rewgular basis means either your band is too tight or you are eatin too much or too fast. I've been banded 3 yrs and have only had a very few episodes and it was because I was a smidge too tight, it doesn't take much to get to that state. If you eat slowly and stay away from doughy foods you should do fine.

I have never thrown up even once in two years. I have gotten stuck and slimed though. While that may seem like the same thing, it is not at all. To get stuck means that something was too big or sticky to get through the opening. Because your body assumes you are choking it starts over producing mucus as a defense mode. It then usually has it get out. When it comes out this is before it reaches your full stomach so you dont have the violent heaving or stomach acids like throwing up, it merely pushing back up with the mucus. Though it can be gross it can usually be avoided by staying away from foods that are sticky (like bread, pasta, rice) and by chewing other foods well. Not everyone has the same problem foods so these you will learn once you reach restriction but that about it in a nutshell.

Hi Pamela,

Just wondering if you have looked at the other weight loss surgery that is offered - VSG? You mentioned the others so I was just wondering if you knew VSG existed. No disrespect to those with a band - just want you to know that VSG is an excellent option if restriction is what you are after. No vomiting, no chasing a sweet spot, no mechanical failures, no PB's, etc., etc.

I have seen many folks on the VSG forum whose insurance didn't cover it but they appealed and won.
