I haven't done WW since being banded, but I think it's a wonderful program, and I sincerely wish everyone with weight issues would try it at least for a while. It provides a great education for a well-balanced diet and appropriate portion sizes, plus accountability and group support.

I began it on line 2/14/11 in order to keep myself accountable. Tom @ beariatic a lap band person convinced me in his blog. This week I felt better than I have in a long time as figuring out what to eat being social with work and friends kept me focused.

I think WW is a great plan. I don't know about the new plan, but I think the old points plan was all right. Basically, keeping track of everything you eat and drink is the basis of the program. Being part of the group makes you accountable for what you are eating and drinking. I think the weigh-ins keep you honest. However, I do not think I would share wtith everyone that you are a baner. Don't forget, there are a lot of people that think it is the easy way out. Personally, I am planning on doing WW when i am at goal. I think it is a great maintenance program. At this time, I am not sure that I can follow the meal plan, sometimes it seems like an awful lot to eat. I also think that if it is what will help you succeed, go for it. Thr bottom line here is that it is not how you play the game, as long as you lose. ME

Each one of us has to do what it takes to make this band work. If I were going to WW I would not mention I had a band. What does it have to do with anything. You will probably encounter a lot of jealousy. I went to a weight group once, mentioned I got the band and was then "verbally skewered." Of course I was told i took the "easy way out". I gave then a great big smile and told them, "I sure did and it has been wonderful."
I few weeks ago I found myself occassionally slipping back into my old ways, so I joined WW for the support and It really helped me get back on track. I attend a monthly WLS support group meetings, but I need weekly support meetings.

WW is full of weight loss surgery patients. Most of us do not have the discipline to follow a food plan for life without a lot of help. If we did, we would not need surgery. After a few years, the diet gets old and boring and we need to find things that will keep us motivated.
I did WW briefly last year and it was helping me lose weight, but for some reason I stopped going. A friend at work asked me to start going with her, so I started again a week ago. I am really happy I did. I love the new program, but it seems so weird to me that nothing is based on calories anymore. I find that it's helping me stay focused and am losing again. I am determined this is the last time I ever join - I am going to stay with this until I reach goal.
I think I'm eating better now than I was - I'm making sure to get fruit in everyday which I haven't been doing. I think I'm eating a more balanced diet now, even though protein is still my focus, and I think I'm better at tracking my food with WW.

I've come to realize I won't lose the rest of my weight without dieting and WW is the perfect solution to me because it's works with the way I want to be eating as a bandster.

I too, love the new program. I joined WW about 2 weeks ago because I was beginning to obsess over how to track everything, including how many grapes am I eating or how big the banana was. On WW, I can eat either without having to track fruit at all. I also stalled out on my weight loss and I need SOMEONE ELSE to weigh me every week. I like the weekly meetings as well, and it's cheaper than seeing my surgeon once a month to track my weight and see how I'm doing (I chose the Monthly Pass plan, $39.99 a month and you can attend any and all meetings in your area, as well as you have access to the etools online).
I lost 7 pounds the first week and I never felt hungry once. I think I've found a plan I can actually live with!!
Like others, though, I don't plan to tell anyone I have a band.
