I knew what I wanted from the get-go, but there's nothing wrong with changing your mind. You want to make sure that you're made the most educated decision possible to ensure the best results possible.

I'm also happy to provide that kick in the ass.

Lots of people have changed their minds.  It sounds like you are not quite positive about what you really want to do.  It might be a good idea to just hold off awhile and do a lot further research.  Weight loss surgery is major.  It will affect the rest of your life.  Take your time to make the right decision.  Good luck.

I changed my mind right before I went under the knife. I was scheduled to have the RNY but something just didn't feel right to me. You can imagine all the chaos that I caused by doing that, lol the insurance codes and what not had to be changed and had to rush to get approval for that band.....but I did it!!! I don't regret changing my mind at all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has changed my mind...I feel better now after that kick in the rear...I hear abt it Monday ...Not sure what they will say abt it...They probley won't like it either  but its not too much just have to watch a video abt it and maybe a consult on lapband ...That shouldn't be too much or I Hope it's not...I'll pay for the consult if I have to not wanting to but if I have to I will...

Actually, if you are going to change your mind and have  a Lapband, you need a THOROUGH consult.

Lapband requires much more 'patient compliance' and follow up than RNY or VSG or DS.

You need to understand EXACTLY what your pre-op and post-op protocol will be.

I saw my surgeon 3 times before surgery -- and probably 15 times in the 20 months since surgery.

You need to understand
1.  who will you see post-op (nurse or surgeon)
2.  how often you will see them --- do they allow you to alter their schedule or are they very rigid?  I get to decide how often I see my doctor --- some are only 'allowed' to have fills every 6 weeks or some arbitrary schedule like that
3.  what support is available locally before and after surgery (do you have to pay extra for that)?
4.  what is the eating protocol before and after surgery

Please do not sell yourself short on the consult because you changed your mind.
Get what you need so you have the maximum chance of success

I changed my mind a few times. First I wanted a band, then I heard about the sleeve and thought it would be my best fit. My insurance disagreed and because my bmi was low there was no appeal. One doctor talked me into RNY but when I went to actually scheduled for the band (I had been assigned to a different surgeon). I still went back and forth yet knew that the band was the right thing for me. I had studied the pros and cons, risks, controversy, etc. I knew about the bands fickleness, the slower weight loss, the difficulties associated, all of it. I made my choice and have been glad for it. My choice had nothing to do with being afraid of a more invasive surgery, it was simply the best fir for me. You have to decide what is your best fit and what you can live with for the rest of your life.

Whatever you decide, good luck. Sue
