Lapband Removal

I currently thinking about having my band removed. I have lost over 80 lbs in the two years since becoming banded. However, I still vomit alot and I do not eat a lot of junk food at all. I am always afraid to eat. And the nightly indigestion is horrible. Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts or advice?

Have you talked to your surgeon about what's going on?  It sounds like your band may be too tight.  You shouldn't be vomiting or having nightly indigestion, and definitely shouldn't be afraid to eat.  I was just a tad too tight for about a year and a half, and am now totally unfilled because I developed an ulcer from too much stomach acid (a sign of a too tight band).  With the unfill, I'm enjoying eating healthy, whole foods, but sticking to "bandster" portion sizes, and I'm actually seeing the scale move downwards slowly.

I'd recommend an unfill before resorting to another surgical procedure.

Before you get your band removed you should check to see if you need a slight unfill.  Most likely you are too tight.

Hi there.  It sounds like your band is too tight, or there might be a small slip.  I suffered through a slip for quite a while, not realizing I had one.  There were good days and nights where I could eat and sleep without reflux, but there were too many days and nights that were pure hell.  Please go see your surgeon and become friends with your band again!

Have you tried a slight unfill?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree with what everyone else said. Before you think about something as drastic as more surgery, take the time to meet with your doc to see what might be causing the problems. It may be something more easily resolved.

You may not need to get your band removed, you are either too tight OR you've already slipped your band, if your band has not slipped you may only need a unfill, there still may be hope that you can save your band by getting a complete unfill if you only have pouch dilation, if your band has truly slipped out of place then you must have it removed or replaced.

You need to see your surgeon ASAP, if you've been too tight like this for a LONG time it lessens your chances of getting your band to work properly again.

If you have not slipped you need to remember that any night time vomiting and regurgitation in your sleep is a warning to get some saline removed and if you don't see your surgeon immediately this could cause you your band.

Don't give up your band w/o consulting your surgeon. My band slipped, and had to be removed, I was w/o it for 2 years and gained back every pound I'd lost. I ended up having my band replaced, I'm 3 days post-op, 6lbs down, and and know that if I'd recognized the signs earlier, I may not have lost my band in the first place.
