I am scheduled for surgery first thing Monday morning, Feb 21st. I am so nervous and excited.  Any suggestions for me for after surgery? I have heard a lot of make sure you walk!

And if they  don't get you up, make sure you ask.  I never spoke up when they forgot about me and they didn't walk me until it was almost time to be discharged.

I wish you the best on your surgery tomorrow.  Yes, walking is critical.  Got to get that gas moving around or you'll be very uncomfortable.   The surgery is not bad at all as far as pain goes.  When I first came to in the recovery room I was aware that I was very sore but as soon as they gave me some meds I was fine.  I had to stay overnight cause of medicare but don't know if you are.
Just do exactly what your dr says for post-op.  Do what your suppose to and eat what you're suppose to.  Sip your liquids constantly it seems.
Let us know how you're doing!

when  had my surgery they sadthey would get me upevery 2 hours and if ii was not up and out on my own the get me up to walk. When you get home keep walking that is what will make you feel better.
Good luck tomorrow

I took a small pillow with me for the bumpy ride and held it gently against my stomach due to the recent surgery. It did make me feel better and not as fearful of the pain as I was coming home in the car.

No matter what you go in for surgery is kind of scarry. I've had several over the years. I know every one is saying to walk, but you also need to remember you just had surgery so you need to rest too.  Good luck, you will be back to normal in 7 to 10 days.

Take that pillow, wear your most roomy pants and shirt since you will be hugely bloated, have a heating pad handy to help with gas pains. Also, since I loved 40 minutes from the hospital I had my hubby fill the Rx for pain meds and antinausea meds in the hospital pharmacy before I was discharged. That way I didn't have to wait after I got home. Sip and walk, rest too. Take the pain meds as needed but don't let the pain get ahead of you. Some need none at all, I needed more than many but felt great as long as I kept it up. Hot liquids are sometimes easier to deal with than cold.

Let us know how you do, Sue
