Bad Outing

So I am now coming up on two weeks post op. I went to the mall yesterday with my girlfriend and things went bad....quick. So since Im starting purees on Monday and its my first day back to work also, i decided to do a trial. started my morning off with two scrambled eggs, sip water throughout the day, did a yoplait yogurt around 3  and prepared to go out for the afternoon. Right before I left out a sweep of diarhea, horrible. After that past I felt fine. On my way to the mall felt a lil tightening in my chest and some shoulder and back pain. When I got out my car to walk into the mall, I felt as though I was gonna vomit. First time I have ever felt this since surgery. I decided maybe I needed a lil liquid and opted for a nonfat fruit smoothie from Red Mango. About 45 minutes later back in the bathroom.....ugh. What did I do wrong?

My doctor won't allow that kind of food for about 4-5 weeks!! I started on all liquids for two week post-op and drinking two protein whey shakes a day.  Then after two weeks of that added yogurt, puddings and liquids for two more weeks. Then I can add pureed foods like tuna, fully cooked veggies, cottage cheese, soft canned fruits. Then after six weeks and my first band fill, I can start on regular foods as tolerated.

Sounds as if you rushed it with food!! Go back to all liquids and jello for a few days

Scrambled eggs are not puree'd, they are solid.  Soft-boiled or poached that are well chopped up could be considered puree'd if the chunks are smaller than 1/8-1/4 inch diameter...I still can have problems with scrambled eggs and avoid them on days when I feel a bit tight.
Best go back to liquids for a couple of days and start fresh on Monday with real puree'd food.

Eggs can be tricky. Even for me three years out. I would avoid them until you are further out and on to solids. It sounds like you were stuck, and then you drank a smoothie. That will just sit there on top of the stuck food until it ALL comes back up. Sorry you had a rough day. Please be careful about what is a mushie or not.

I have heard that, but guess what? My NUT said scrambled eggs were fine to eat on pureed diet and even lists it on the handouts that she gives me. Anyway I have learned my lesson. What did u guys eat during puree stage?

I did well with the pureed foods.  I used a small food processor and put all of my meats through it.  I measured them out by tablespoons and froze them on a cookie sheet.  When frozen I bagged them up.  Then I might add them to some broth.  I made home made chicken broth because it is so much better.  I ate mashed potatoes, thin grits with cheese melted in it.  I found I couldn't eat scrambled eggs, but hard boiled mashed up and missed with the grits were good.  yogurt, cottage cheese,  protein drinks, tomato juice and lots of water.  I also mixed protein powder with milk and coffee for a warm or cold drink.  Even pureed foods need a lot of chewing. Bread even soft doesn't work for me.  Small amounts which for me at pureed foods was about 1/3 cup total of food per meal, but with 4 to 6 meals allowed.

Soft, scrambled eggs were on my list, but I get stuck on eggs. Everyone is different.
