Where do you get stuck?

I've been having a difficult time. I now know what "stuck" means. It seems the first bite of ANYTHING I eat, at ANY time of day, gets stuck (not getting stuck when I have liquids, of course).

I knew about getting stuck before surgery, but I didn't realize where I'd experience that sensation. So I'd like to know where everyone else gets stuck.

For me, it's in my esophagus, high up. If I had an Adam's Apple that is the location of my stuck sensation.

If this is 'normal', can someone explain 'why there?' to me.

Thanks for all of your input!

I think it's pretty different for all of us. I never know I'm stuc****il I start sliming.  I can't really feel it until I start that slime process.  For me, I feel it high in my chest, above my breasts but below my throat.  Make sense?

I worry when you say the first bite of anything that you eat gets stuck.  You may want to cut that first bite in half again and make sure you are chewing 20-30 times.  I know that when I start eating, I tend to eat fast....so it may be if you are hungry you are eating too fast or too big of bites.

There is another explaination, first bite syndrome, but I don't have that so I'm not sure how to explain it.  I'm sure someone else will jump in here and explain that!

Hope that helps.

Thank you Julie. This is the first I've heard of First Bite Syndrome. I'm curious to find out what that is. I appreciate your input. You're right about it being different for everyone.

I have the same STUCK place as Julie but I get stuck and then start the sliming.  I also fine I eat to fast when eating with others.  It's almost like I try to keep up the pace without even thinking about it.  It doesn't matter what I'm eating.  I also find I am very gassy after every time I eat.  Maybe if you eat a yogurt first and start to get full you will not get stuck on your first bite every time (Just thinking).

I get stuck sorta mid chest...i feel it like a ball then i cant swallow and then the slime....thenafter all the arm flailing and bouncing and walking  and it doesnt go down....up it comes and if its all out i know ...if not i still cant swallow my saliva...my problem..i dont snack in between meals so im starving at lunch and dinner...i eat to fast and bites are to big....
u can sip on hot tea b4 you eat ....or if u have first bite syndrome...take a small bite chew chew chew...wait a few minutes then try again...i think it depends on how your sitting...if your at a table its okay but like slumped in a couch eating may cause where u get stuck higher? and standing is another ball game ...which us bansters shouldnt eat and stand!

Stuck for me sorta feels like when you drink a soda too fast and get a horrible pain in your chest. I can usually tell before I get really really stuck that it is about to happen.

I had my first fill on Feb 3rd and I have had about 4 stuck episodes.  Mine are always on that last bite, the one you know is going to have to last you awhile.  I mustn't be chewing that bite thoroughly enough and am obviously taking too big a bite.  My stuck spot is also below my throat but above my boobs.  I can feel my poor little esophagus trying to chug the lump through.  It hurts like a bugger.  I think I felt my first beginning of slime today after I got stuck with a bite of hamburger.  I could feel something deep in the back of my throat that felt like it was trying to come up and I kept swallowing,  I am assuming that was the slime but I got unjammed pretty quickly so I am not sure.  I am still learning how to work this thing.
