My port has flipped now time for big decisions

Well I went in today to have a dye test to see if my band is leaking and he couldnt get to the port. After an xray he saw that the port was flipped :-(

Now, at this point I have to decide if I want the band out altogether, if I want the port fixed and assuming no leak go on about my life, or if there is a leak replace the band, or revise to gastric bypass.
I lost 85 pounds with the band. Gained 60 back. The doctor said I was band intolerant and that likely the experience would be the same with never finding the right fill and constant vomiting.

I am really really leaning toward just getting it out and moving on with healthier choices and the gym. Long battle.

I have no co-morbities yet and really am not loving the idea of gastric bypass.

Boooo hiss.

In my opinion, something lead you to have weight loss surgery in the begining. If you dont like the idea of the bypass and it isnt a good fit for your life..How about some of the other surgeries?..Are you against those too?..Im sorry that you are going through this..I wish you success with either choice...

Sorry to hear about your troubles...Is the sleeve an option?

I can tell you one thing *fer sure*... you need another doctor.  First, I can't believe he had a student perform a fill when he/she was supposed to be observing.  Then, he kept injecting you with saline to the point of turning you black and blue.  No wonder you were burning after they pumped your abdomen full of saline.  That whole story about your last fill was an absolute horror show!
No wonder you are frustrated.  If I'd gone through what you've gone through, I'd be pissed off, and ready to revise, too.  But before you make any decisions, please consider consulting with another doctor.

Wish I could give you a hug, and wish I could slap your doc upside the head.

I am going to see if the other office in the area takes my insurance. The office staff at the one I go to has been less than pleasant :/

And yes, if I decide to revise my insurance will only cover gastric bypass. I am a single mom with 2 kids and a full time college student. I CANNOT self pay. Also the VSG is a fairly new surgery as well. My concerns arent what I will deal with in the next 5 years.... I am only 28. My concerns are what are the effects of those types of surgeries 20 30 40 years out.

If you aren't happy with the band and you don't want bypass, what about a sleeve? Safest surgery type long term of ALL of them.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Sleeve isnt an option. Insurance won't cover it. Also...its a relatively new surgery right? So how do they really know the long term effects of losing 85% of your stomach? Im just skeptical. I believed every word the literature, my doctor, and other patients told me about lap band 5 years ago but the truth is it wasnt out long enough to really know long term damage...
