Huh. Curious. Hypocritical?

No, it's probably not nice. And neither is "crapband" and "choke chain." You know what they say about the goose and the gander. In all fairness I see more banded people using the term crap band vs. non banded folks.

Actually, I'm the first person I ever heard use the term "choke chain," but I said that "no one had mentioned that I was signing up for a diet with a choke chain." That was back on old SpotlightHealth a little over eight years or so ago.
Glad to know the term has "caught on" and come to be the widely used description of the band. It wouldn't have survived the test of time if it hadn't been so accurate.

Those of us that have HAD the band and it went horribly wrong, have a right to call it a crapband or choke chain, IMHO. I, if you'll remember, had a band, which went horribly wrong, and I call it a crapband. It, for me, is just a name I call it. That doesn't mean that I'm bad mouthing anyone who has one, or who may want one. I have seen the band work for many people, and I commend those who have the band for working your asses off to lose the weight and to keep it off. I wish mine would have worked for me, the way it was supposed to. Heck, I wouldn't have had to shell out $25,000 for my DS, if that band hadn't have failed.

I'm not afraid to come here...it's just that the Rabid High Priestess of the Choke Chain and her idiot minions get everything wrong...as they did again...and create havoc where none need exist. But, since I'm retired and have SOME time on my hands, I guess I could drop in several times a week just to tell prospective banded people how happy I was with MY band...and what the stats are and all that. I mean...if she thinks I'm afraid and all...maybe I should prove I am not.
I HAD the band and was refreshing my memory by consulting with some of the MANY PREVIOUSLY BANDED PEOPLE WHO NOW HAVE THE DS. (Funny how there aren't a lot of previously DSd folks here looking for a band, huh?)
My banded friend doesn't come to this board because she's pretty sure her band is a piece of ****as are most of them--and just wants it out. But she doesn't want to have her stomach destroyed in the process. So she is hoping to survive the POS and to document its many failings.
I'm thinking that with enough ER trips for this band stuff, she'll get her revison paid for pretty soon...which is also one of her goals.
Oh...and since we have several doctors/surgeons on the DS board...DS patients themselves...they are very good at pointing out all the possible problems the band can cause.
But I do thank the few of you who offered civil responses int he thread in question.
Banded people have made it more than clear, if you are having problems with your band or if you had your band removed we are supposed to NOT post on the band board and we are supposed to post on the main board. They say we should not tell pre ops about band problems, only puppy dogs and rainbows are supposed to be posted here.
If you have a story to tell, IMHO you have a responsibility to come here and tell your truth. If you do not it is a disservice to the WLS community and totally unfair to those that actually want to research.

Hi! TRUCK DRIVING MOM:
(sorry guys if I'm on the wrong thread or forum, but I've got to find a doctor)
I saw one of your posts and wanted to ask you some questions...
I'm looking for a surgeon closest to my home in Louisiana and I saw that you had the lap band switch to DS done by Dr. Stewart in Denton, TX. (I love what you call the lap band by the way and I totally agree! lol). I saw that Dr. Stewart is on the list on DSinfo.com and I heard that I should use a doctor on THAT list. At any rate, I'd like to converse with you about your experience.
I can be reached at [email protected].
THANKS SO MUCH!
Karen
