Only 3 lb wt loss in one month

Went in for a 4 month F/U with my surgeon today. Lost only 4 lbs in one month . I was really looking forward for another fill, which I desperately needed. I only have 3cc in my 10cc band right now. Well my surgeon was unable to access my port, he tried several times. Actually he's always had alittle trouble accessing my port, but eventually gets to it, but today, no luck. He's going to schedule me to have it done under fluoro, plus he wants to make sure port hasn't flipped.  Hope all is ok..I just hope I get it done soon.

Norma: Best of luck with this. It may be nothing. The third month after my surgery I lost - are you ready? - ZERO pounds for the entire month!

Four pounds is not bad, Norma.  Most docs say we should average 1-2 lbs./week.  But, I'm sorry to hear about the port issue.  I hope he's able to access the port with the visuals.  Best of luck.

Hey Norma, do you remember that old Clairol commercial?  "Nice and easy, that's my style"  That's a good approach for weight loss.  One pound a week is fabulous, healthy and 4 pounds less than you weighed last month!

I hope your MD can get the port thing all straight.  I can imagine that has to be frustrating!

I'm only about three weeks out. I've lost 25 pounds total. But, that was from two weeks liquid before surgey and 5 after surgery. So I'm happy about that. Don't worry about not losing a bunch. You are getting healthier and losing inches also. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. This is one reason why I do not own a scale. I weigh only at the doctor. Hey if I try on a different pair of jeans that were too tight and they fit now...Yeehaw..I don't care how much I've lost...In the long run you have to be happy with yourself and no one else. You have plenty of support here.

Good Luck to you and keep pushing on,

As a 5 year veteran I get disheartened when I read these kinds of posts.   Most of the  time with the band the weight loss is slower.  Possibly you have hit a plateau.  I had one for almost 2 months.  I couldn't get under 205 lbs to save my soul.  However I did lose the weight and my average was 6 lbs per month.  Guess what, I weigh less then I ever thought I would and have kept the weight off for 5 years.  I had a small gain last year and had a slight adjustment.  Lost the excess weight and have kept it off.  That is the beauty of the band, it is adjustable.  Don't put so much pressure on yourself.  Take it one day at a time.  If you are doing what you are supposed to you will achieve your goal.  I have been to so many support groups and have seen the people who had RNY and lost 50 plus  lbs in a month, only  a few years later to gain 75 lbs back and not be able to lose it.  Remember the tortoise and hare race.   The tortoise won!
