Well, here I am 5 yrs. out and my band has slipped. Can any of you tell me what your experience has been after repair. Is it as good as new or different? I have gained 35 lbs. over the last 6 months and still gaining with every bite I take....good or bad food....doesn't matter. I hope to get in soon for my revision. Of course there is all of the authorization crap and all. Thanks for any comments and suggestions you may have.

Can't help! But just wanted to send my best wishes!

Do you have a reason for the slip or is it just one of those unlucky things?

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Just unlucky I guess and this is after 1 1/2 yrs. of no fills and only at 4cc in my 11cc Vanguard band. Don't know how much that had to do with it. But I found myself eating more and more. After a while it would hurt after I ate. Kind of thought something was wrong. Sure enough and here I am today. Thanks for your well wishes Kate. I will keep things updated on my profile.

The problem with slips are this, when you slip and they surgically reposition or replace your band your chances for another slip down the road skyrocket.  There was a bariatric conference in FL about a year or so ago and the revision surgeons (heavy hitters like Husted, Rabkin, etc.) were saying they will not reposition or replace a band because they will be back in a couple of years to remove another slipped band and revise to something else.

I would seriously look at your options and see what else works for you.  The scarring that holds a band in place long term never grows in the same place with the same quality, thus... 70% risk for slips in your future.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, my situation won't be like that and I will be able to take off the excess weight after repair.

Is this your second slip? Didn't you have problems a couple of years ago? A lot of the people that looked up when I researched my revision either could never get back to good restriction or were more prone to slipping again and again.

Good luck!

Just want to say how sorry I am.  I am completely unfilled right now, and know how difficult it is to be without your Band aid.  I hope you are able to get approved quickly for another surgery to repair or revise.

I didn't have surgery to fix my slipped band - I just had a complete unfill and rest period. It took a long time to get re-filled because in the meantime, my port flipped and was inaccessible for fills, but once I got that repaired and got my fill back, I'm happy to say that my band started doing its job again and I've lost 23 of the 25 pounds I had gained.

Good luck!
