What is normal 'throwup' time? I have never chucked any food back up, but sometimes I have taken to big a bite - and had episodes of burping and lots of 'flem' coming up. Recently I had a fill (I have another post from today) and awhile ago took to large a drink and it cause me to 'throw up' - how long is TOO long? What is normal?

Also - how do I get that Weight Tracker?
and - What and where is "My Signature"? How do I put one on?

 Hi there,

I'm sorry you're having trouble.  I'm not sure what you mean about "normal" throw up time.  But, when I get stuck, sometimes my mouth fills will bubbly saliva, and if I swallow it, I sometimes PB.  Usually, if I just spit it out, the food passes on through.  But, if you are having that kind of thing happening after drinking liquid, then that's a pretty good sign that you're over-filled.  Trust me, you do *not* want to keep too tight a fill.  Please call your doc.

Not sure what you mean exactly. If people bring food back it depends on what it was, how they ate, what went "wrong".

But I am not sure what "too long" means.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hmm..you got me puzzled, not sure what you mean by 'normal throwup time' but if you think this is going to be the 'normal' routine of pbing on a regular basis, you will be heading for the revision forum in a few years.

Regarding how long, many people have had food stuck for HOURS and vomited repeatedly until the food becomes unstuck and this can be very painful, and you don't want this to happen often since repeated force may cause your sutures that is holding the band in place to come loose ESPECIALLY in the first year, you want to avoid vomiting at all cost since your band is still forming scar tissue to hold it firmly years out.

Pbing should be a RARE mistake and not a normal process of eating, you need to learn your band and body quickly and take pea size bites and chew well before taking another bite you have to learn to SLOW DOWN with restriction, I believe most surgeons give patients instructions on post op eating and you will have to CHANGE your eating FOREVER if you plan on keeping your band.

You can no longer drink very cold liquids and guzzle liquids especially while eating this will further restrict the band and cause it to tighten up very quickly.

If you remotely THINK vomiting is normal with the band you need to talk to those who's band has slipped or got their removed.

Yes I agree with Nana...throwing up is never normal.  I was told by my surgeon that throwing up is a sign something isn't right and I should call his office.  The only time I threw up is when I was too tight and I needed an unfill.  Otherwise I don't throw up.

"Normal" and "throw up" really don't belong in the same sentence.

The phlegm coming up is called slime or sliming. Throwing up or PB'ing is a productive burp - regurgitation of the food or liquid you just consumed. These reactions to eating mistakes can happen within seconds, minutes, or hours of the event. And all these events can be prevented by practicing good band eating skills - eat slowly, take tiny bites, chew very well, don't drink while you eat, etc.

I haven't used the OH weight tracker. To add a signature (your name & any info about yourself you'd like for everyone to see every time you post on a forum):

Do you mean how many times you "refund" the food or water?

Ideally it should be ZERO times.  But I think I know what you mean.. you're asking should you get rid of the offending item in one refund session or many.

I've had times when I had to get rid of something several times.. to the point I knew the offending item was gone, I just had the "throw-up reflex" going on.  That time I went and found some oral phenergan and took a dose to settle me down.

Usually it's just once and done.. maybe a second time.  If I throw up more than 3 times, and I'm no longer feeling "stuck" or pain in my chest area.. I'm pretty sure I'm just doing it from reflex then.

I get that you said too big a drink.  I've done that too.  But if you go back to little tiny sips and still have issues.. call your doctor.  You might even call them about the problem with the big drink just to give them a heads up incase you are going to need to go back for a tiny unfill.

The weight tracker thing is in your profile area.  I have to poke around a while to find all the gadgets/widgets/whathaveyou.  Just keep looking and you'll eventually find it.  Sorry I can't be of more help in this regards.
