My Outpatient Realize Band was 12,000.00
That included the psych eval, all doctor appts leading up to the surgery, the band, the anesthesia, the surgery center and 3 months of follow up
I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time, and the surgery center and anesthesiologist charged my insurance for that part, and I had about 200.00 co-pay.
My follow up appts are 50.00 or 100.00 depending on whether I get a fill. (that seems to be very reasonable compared to others -- so make sure you understand how much the fills/follow up are going to cost you --- follow up is critical with the band).
So -- in the 19 months post-op, I have spent about 13,000.00 so far
(Then I spent 9,000.00 for plastic surgery)

I had my surgery on 1/18 and I just rec'd a copy of the bill that was billed to my insurance company.
Total with surgery and the Hospital was $30,000 and the insurance company paid $24,000. My surgeon charged 2387.00 and he was paid 1587.00. I haven't gotten a copy of the Ans. bill yet.
I have BCBS PPO and luckly I don't have to pay ANYTHING !!!
Hope this helps.

I didn't qualify for insurance, and the clinic near me was going to cost $18,900 out of pocket. I saw many, many positive reviews on Dr. Pompa (even on this site) and traveled to Mexico. The total cost was $4850, including all medical fees, two nights stay at the hotel in the same building as the clinic, a night's stay at the clinic, and transportation to and from San Diego airport. I did have to pay my flight, though.
My surgery was on Nov 16 2010 and the total bill from the hospital was $18759.93. This included my overnight stay at the hospital and all that jazz...
My insurance covered all but like 600.00 so that was nice.
Also included in the above was my 6 months pre op nut appointments and post op visits :)
The only other costs i have come across are for the pre op testing like the Sleep study and the indiscopy (sp??)
I hope this helps! I was stressing too because when ever i talked to my doctor they wouldnt give me a straight answer as to the costs ..... but im releaved that it was not nearly as expensive as i had origionally thought!
Good luck!

Hi,
I have Cigna NOA network open access. When I started looking into getting the band.
I went to a WL center and they were going to charge me $7200.00 because they used 2 surgeons and 1 was out of network?????? Then I changed to a no for profit program and my total out of pocket cost for surgery cost me $75.00. I have to pay my co pays to see my surgeon for aftercare, but my fills are all done under fluor at the hospital and don't cost me anything. Hope this helps. It is very important to have a great surgeon that also has a good support team around them.
Edited
This is a brake down of what was billed and paid.
Hospital billed them $39695.50 they paid only $ 7151.00 my co pay was $75.00
Surgeon billed them $1952.00 they paid only $ 1302.25 my co pay was $ 0
Anesthesiologist billed $1840.00 they paid only $ 1080.00 my co pay was $ 0
I almost fell over when I saw what Cigna only paid out $9543.25
Maybe now some of the self pay people will be able negotiate there bill.
