NSV!! and it feels good!
Sooooo, my boyfriend did something a little different for me for Valentines Day and instead of flowers that would just die in a day or two, or chocolates that would only sabotage my weight loss, he decided to reserve tickets to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in NYC and part of that was a trip up into the Crown. I am 40 years old and live only a few hours away from NYC and have never been to the Statue so this was a great surprise.
I was all excited and ready to go and then when I got there and the tour guide explained to us that we would be climbing 354 stairs to the crown I about choked!!! I have asthma, Im afraid of heights, and claustrophic (it gets pretty narrow towards the top). But, I decided that I was not going to ruin this nice surprise he had planned for me.
I had my inhaler in my pocket and off I went....OMG OMG OMG....thankfully they had little stop areas along the way but I made it up into the crown without dropping to my knees lol....I wanted to!! My legs were so weak by that point they were shaking....I had puffed on my inhaler probably too many times...but I tell you what, if I had the 30lbs on my body that I have lost since surgery, there is no way in HELL that I would have ever made that walk up there! I use to have trouble breathing if I had to climb the two flights of stairs in my home...nevermind 354 winding stairs with people behind me knowing I cant stop or Im going to jam everything up lol
I felt pretty whipped after doing it believe me, but I also feel pretty damn good that I was able to do it and not embarassed to have to turn away from it! a huge NSV for me!

Congrats! That is a huge accomplishment!!!
I think stairs are by far the most challenging types of exercise one can do, cause even if you get good at walking up the stairs, you can always jog up them, and then, of course, if you accomplish that, you can run up them. I do my building's internal stairs 2-3 times a week during my lunch hour. It's a mini-high rise building with 19 floors (including basement). There are 30 steps per floor, so 570 steps. I do them twice, so 1,140 steps. Nothing beats my butt more than stairs! You definitely have to have lung capacity to do them.
Anyway, CONGRATS AND YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF YOURSELF! I'm sure your boyfriend was vert proud of you!!!

What a great boyfriend! He's a keeper! Such a great idea to celebrate special events with a day trip or other special experience instead of with food and drinks! Even better when you get a bit of a workout in the process.
Glad you made it and had a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you might not have had without taking control of your health and weight. Congrats!

Wow, what a fun present and one that you will never forget! I would have loved to have done that, but we were there right after 9/11, so it wasn't possible. Did you take pics?
Yeah, it was a memorable day for sure...for many reasons.....we ended up having decent weather too which was really nice considering the weather we have been dealing with here in the North.
Yes, I did take pictures.....and although this really isnt an NSV....or maybe it is, I have never ever ever liked a picture taken of me that was full length...but, my boyfriend wanted to take one of me standing in front of the original torch (which they have on display at the base of the statue) and I reluctantly stood there for the picture and I was PLEASANTLY surprised when I saw the picture and I didnt think I looked HUGE....I dont think that has ever happened lol
If I can figure out how to post a picture on here, Ill post it lol

Okay, two big NSV's! WooHooo
To put a pic in a post, you have to have it on OH on your pic area and then copy and paste it in a post.

Wow, great pic and you look great! Guess you didn't need help posting it! That is so fun! congrats!
What a wonderful idea...I think we will have to try this!!!..I always find myself wondering why we waste soo much money buying gifts for each other that we really dont need..We could use that money to do something as a family!....Love the idea!.... Congratulations on both of your accomplishments!...I bet your boyfriend is super proud too!!
