Be honest: Would you do it again? If you knew what you knew now?

Yes I would.   I went into this not knowing about the sleeve.  The only options I was offered were the RNY (bypass) or banding.

Would I have had a sleeve if I had known about it?  Doubt it.  I'm not fond of having body parts removed.  However, that is just ME.  I'm glad that there are options for people who don't do well with the band or have contra-indications to the band and don't want a bypass or DS.

I was supposed to have WLS in 2007.. however, cancer showed up and I had to have that taken care of before I could be banded.  I waited until I was well recovered and got banded in 2009.  Best decision I ever made regarding weight control.  I decided against bypass as I thought cancer should ever show back up.. malabsorption might be a problem if I needed chemo or rads.

No one surgery is right for everyone.  Banding was the right choice for me.. so far.

Well, I'm having lapband insertion on Friday and I have to agree with the woman who posted that she'd have been reticent if she'd read alot of the posts.  I agree and have tried to stay away from the negativity and focus on what I should be doing and hopefully, will do in future.  I am excited about this new opportunity.  I have chosen this path, on my own, no coercion.  I am determined to do what it takes to finally change my life.  God, I hope I remember this on the bad days I'm sure to have.  Hope this doesn't sound too arrogant.  Thanks to all of those who have been helpful/
