Ever just go thru a time when band is tighter than normal?
Hello,
For the last few days, I've had some pretty amazing restriction. My last fill was in (maybe) October? I've been satisfied with my status since then. But the last few days? It's been a few bites and I am DONE. If I pu**** I start getting the hiccups & that is never a good sign for me.
I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It's not my TOM, and my body doesn't appear to be retaining any extra water. The only thing I can think that coincides with this is that my sinus's have been really horrible since I was sick over Christmas and then January. This extra restriction has pretty much been since I came back from a trip to Cancun at the end of January (which also coincides when my family practice doc put me on a new allergy medication (Allegra).
Please just let me know... Should I be happy? Or should I be worried?
Sincerely yours,
Ambelina the Worry-wort

I usually try to coax it into awakeness: hot coffee, tea or soup can sometimes talk it into being amenable to food. But yes, sometimes I do just stick liquids and wait it out. When flying, for example, I'm fine on the ground, but in the air, I'm tight as a drum, so I carry prepackaged shake mixes and mix them with milk I buy in the airport or get from the flight crew.
Ambelina - first just let me say you are looking GREAT!!!
Yes, sometimes I get tighter for no apparent reason, but definitely if I've been having sinus issues. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you're able to get in the nutrition you need, otherwise, see the doc!
Keep up the great work and hope to see you at a group meeting sometime!

Ambelina, congratulations on your great WLS success! A couple of months after my 2nd anniversary of being banded was my 1st unexpected restriction. That time, I believe it was due to recent stress- retirement which was at the time, both great but sooner than I had originally planned. Talk about restriction! And I was on vacation that had been planned for several months. Lost over 10 pounds in a week, but not fun. The next two similar occasions happened at the onset of some virus. A slight unfill made a big difference & I didn't gain back much of the weight I lost.
I wouldn't be worried, but maybe concerned. Don't let things go too long before you touch base with your surgeon. Just my thoughts...

Thanks so much for your post. I went ahead and called - just to be safe. My WLS nurse is wondering if it's the sinus issues that are the main driver right now. She's going to talk to my doctor and we will leave it up to him.
I appreciate your letting me know this does happen occasionally. It's less scary to know others have something similar going on.
