You know what is sad about all this Betty it shouldnt matter what surgery we get.  I thought the whole point to ANY weight loss surgery was to get healthy ?

I might not like to get my insides rerouted or my stomach taken half out but I would not dog somebody or treat them like they are goign to fail becaue they are getting that surgery all I can do is tell them good luck and I hope they lose all their weight .

No surgery is better then another , every surgery has it's pro's and con's , every WLS you have to diet end of story .

It is so sad people cant be respectful to each other that way.  I think everybody needs to hear the bad and the good , from lapband to ds, to whatever else is out there, but there is way it can be done without making somebody feel stupid, or they will fail if they get a "certain" procedure done .

There is alot of people on here that need to learn that lesson then maybe they would get more respect out of people.

Actually I find it very amusing that on the main forum that "attention Pre-ops" post has a ton of replies...of course 95% of them are other ds'ers who were recruited for support.  The other 5% are other post ops saying stfu and I think there is only one preop saying...um, ok?

So yeah their rhetoric is really helping change the world (rolling eyes all the way into the back of my head)

It looks like 95% of them are from the ****stirrer who started the whole thing. She clearly LOVES her own voice, even when it's typed.

Bette you are my hero.     I hope I do half as well as you have done.  Let me tell you another thread came thru 2 days before my surgery last month.   It had me questioning my choice.   I was so scared.   But then I started reading a few of the positive posts.   And seeing quite a few long bandsters.   And I figured if they can do it I sure and hell could try.   What do I have to lose.  My health was beginning to spiral out of control.   So hear I am.  And I know it's only been almost 4 weeks and  I'm doing well.   And I'm happy.

Take care.

Well here's a little gem of a post I found on the Ds board.  It seems life isn't always so rosy in the DS world as they might like you to believe...or well maybe I should say doesn't SMELL as rosy..

and I thought I was alone in how IRRITATING some people are here... THANKS! we are so not ALONE!

We all see them... out there in thier hot pink camoflouge... lurking and ready to pounce... problem is that they are too stupid to realize that we are smarter... we don't wear pink camolouge...

a recent post was made with specific request for support... not research info... yet a response was given to make the poster feel stupid about her decision, and second guess herself... interestingly, She has not second guessed her position, she has taken in all the support... and she can see the lemmings that they are IN PINK CAMOFLOUGE!!!!!!!!!

I like standing up to bullies... its fun

OK, I have been all over OH because I thought I was having the Sleeve, then the RNY and now I will be getting the Lap-Band on March 9th.

That being said, I am so glad you posted this.  I have seen the negativity towards the Lap-Band and amongst the posters.  I posted here 1 time and received private messages from people telling me not to do it etc.......Surgery is scary enough without getting nasty messages loaded with terrible things.  This poster hit it on the head some people are having Lap-Band because it is the best fit for them.  One thing that has concerned me is the fact that there are very few posts here compared to the other boards.  I have been trying to figure out why the traffic here is so limited.  Has the temperament of this board run everyone away?  I understand that many of you are doing what you feel is right.  However, the final decision should be up to the individual.  We are all here trying to get healthy and some are choosing Lap-Band to erase the necessity of something more drastic in the future because we did nothing.  The ultimate goal is better health.

Again, I am very new, I know as much as I have read and when I was preparing or thought I was getting the other surgeries I found this board very helpful.  I hope it remains that way.  To you all who were/are successful you have every right to toot your horn.  To those that were not as successful as you had hoped---I wish you nothing  but well wishes and good luck as you continue to take charge of your health and become healthy in your mind, body and soul.

Peace and blessings to us all.

I could not agree more OOO2bthin... I think the lapband is right for me based on my particular situaition. I did investigate the others... they just were not right for me. I respect the decision of otheres to take thier own path. It would be nice for them to respect ours as well.

I am heading for surgery on the 1st of MArch... keep in touch with your progress. Its fun to be excited huh???? A whole new world awaits us... take a look at Bette B's Photos... WOW WOW WOW....

Good Luck

I think there is less posting on this board because people are out living their lives. They've had the surgery, they've lost weight and are now enjoying their new lives.  We don't have the supplementation/hypoglycemic/fistula/vitamin deficiency etc issues you see with many of the other surgeries.  I think people tend move on ..
