I have been working out a lot lately. Going to the pool a few days a week and swimming laps. Thanks for the inspiration Swoosh. My husband is a swimming drill sargeant and is amazing. He times me. He gives me 30 seconds to swim 25 yards with the kick board then I get 35 seconds to rest. then I do a 50 yard stretch and another 25 and so on. He swims it with me and it's great!

So I thought it was time to kick it in to gear! I'm in great physical shape. Feeling good!

We started Insanity with Shaun T the other day. It's a high intensity cardio strength building video. you don't use any weights other than your own body weight. I was sweating within the first minute. Holy moly!!!

But the next day I started hurting. Every where in my body was the good hurt of muscles being used for the first time in a while. All except my left knee. UH OH!

I have an appointment this week, but I'm pretty sure I have a slight medial meniscus tear. I've got it somewhat immobilized and I'm wearing a brace. I've been icing it and taking it very easy. It seriously hurts to go down stairs or to sit down. Even sitting to go to the bathroom takes my breath away. DAMN IT!!!  I have a 5k in April. I don't need this.

oh- and since I'm in a craptastic mood now, i'd like to mention how rude I think this valentines snow storm is. Come on!

Oh Tiff, I'm sorry to hear about your knee.  That stinks.  At first I was thinking, maybe I should get that DVD, maybe not? haha   I have been doing the 30 day Shred by Jillian Michaels and that was a killer at first, but now I can get through it without thinking I'm going to die.  And DH is doing it when he can with me.  It's great that your DH is such a good swimming drill sargeant.  It helps to have someone to push a little.  Sometimes that would be my DH when walking and I always have "Gracie and Jack" ( our Golden Retrievers) they always want to go faster and farther. hahaha

(Hey, did you see my downhill skiing pics?  They are on OH.)

Okay, now you keep us updated on your knee.

Hugs,
Kristi

I always watch those informercials...Insanity and P90X....with interest.  They are getting these people CUT!  Just RIPPED!

I just don't know if I could do them though.

I'm just hoping this c25k helps me lose a few lbs.

Yes- RIPPED!  They are powerhouse athletes. And having done a workout. My obliques now can feel why they are so ripped.  I think if my knees could handle it, I too could be trimmed up in a few months.

I saw Joan here on OH do 30 days of insanity and the transformation was amazing. So I know it works. I've also got a friend across town that swears by it. Through nothing but working out and long distance running he's down 115lbs.  Stupid jerk did it without a band or anything. It kind of makes me feel... lazy.

As long as whatever I do helps me lose 70 lbs (wife would like to see a little more of Mr. Happy, I'm sure), then I'll be ecstatic.

I've heard of P90X, and that it's pretty rough, so is Insanity as challenging?  I'm going to do a search and see if I can read about it.  I know I'm in better shape from the Shred, but it's pretty basic exercises.

OK you guys, I can't even keep up with Richard Simmons or Leslie Sansone's Walk it off series.   I will just have to continue with regular walking, a bit of light swimming, and riding my old fashioned bike. That and my back exercises.  I still get lots of exercise from going to check the frige and pantry even though I know I am not going to get anything. Our electric billsd would go down If I didn't open the frige/freezer so much. I do it even knowing there isn't anything in there except healthful stuff. Some of us are works in progress much longer than others, sigh.  I will be praying for you, Tiff.

Good grief! That sucks big time...

I resonate with you totally...

Let's see now...

Shall we start at the bottom??
Right foot neromas (too much stress on right foot from 7 days a week walking)
Right ankle high break (fell down a hill gardening)
Right knee skiier's triangle (miniscus, ACL, MCL) (fell down a hill skiing)
Right side piriformis injury (gym injury on hacksquat machine with trainer)
Right shoulder torn rotator cuff (gym injury in gym with too heavy  free weights also with a trainer!)
Frozen shoulders (stress)
Neck pain (stress)
Hmmm

And guess how this happened??/
Yep, you got it... All exercising to LOSE WEIGHT!!!

And guess what the results were????
Yes again! Weight gain of almost 75 lbs!!!

Post lap band, I now stick to the pool, snowshoeing, walking with poles, and other light impact activity... I should do weights, but unless I can get on a Nautilus machine, I'm afraid of those upper body injuries again!!

Good luck and GET BETTER SOON!!!

Best...
Mary
