I agree with 1,2 and 3.  I take better care of myself and make better choices now that I have the band.

Thanks for the reminder on the block button.  I blocked 3 people who posted on my site. I don't understand why people with bitter experiences come on here just to bad mouth it for the rest of us.  WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME and WE DO NOT ALL HAVE THE SAME BODIES.  We are UNIQUE.  NO TWO ALIKE! :)  We cannot expect to have the same results for everyone.  For some it works and for some it doesn't, but that's no need to go around being down right mean to others who are making it work and others trying to make it work.  It's a conscious effort. We have to remember where we come from.  We are not your typical dieters.  We have addictions and love affairs with food.  This is a deeper level for us.  I know it is for me. It's a mental thing as much as it is a spiritual/emotional problem for me.  We all resorted to weight loss surgery because regular diets don't work.  We should all be happy there are so many options for WLS.  I just wish people would respect each other with their choices/decisions.

Much nicer over here! Not surprisingly, those who have bad band expereinces may become bitter. Not all of them do - we have a few long time posters on here who have very unhappy experiences but who can remain calm and supportive of others.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I'm curious where on the revision forum did you find someone saying their band failed because of too much ice cream, I looked and didn't find anything similar to that. We "can" have ice cream on occasion. Some folks are even reduced to it because their bands are too tight and that and soup are about all that will go down. My band didn't work for me because I can do very little exercise. I already ate 1000 calories or less a day but without exercise there was no difference in my life style so only 20 lbs. weight loss.  Not all band failures are from people disregarding the rules and yes we are more than disappointed because like all you we expected success but no, here I sit in the same boat I started out in. So please try not to be so judgemental  when accusing us of failing our bands. Most people don't go thru major surgery to cheat their way thru the diet.

MOST of the time the BAND fails................NOT the bandster!!! Why would we post ourselves through surgery just to sabotage ourselves???

Charly --- I believe that we can learn from everyone -- even if all we learn is that we don't want to be like them.

Take what works, leave the rest behind

Hislady -

I'm curious about something and I'm not asking this to be snarky or rude or anything, this is a very legitimate question for you so please don't take it for anything other than that.

I think that most doctors are very clear that exercise is a vital part of the success with the band.  If that's a limitation you had, why did you choose the band to begin with?  Aren't you kind of setting yourself up for failure from the get-go?  The importance of exercise with the Lap-Band has been stressed to me endlessly from the first time I set foot in my doctor's office.  If that had been a issue for me (in any way other than the fact that I would prefer to curl up with a book, thank you very much), I don't think I would have ever even considered the band.  With a physical limitation (I don't know your specific cir****tances) on the amount of activity you can have, I would think that a surgery like the RNY or the DS would be more effective in your situation.

Just curious.
