Revision Forum = Depressing

I thought I'd visit the Revision Forum being that I was just rebanded on Jan. 20th. I was looking for encouragement  and to connect with others who are in my shoes. Instead, it's all about people saying which surgery is better, why the lap-band is terrible, etc. Every single post I read was about people not even giving the lap-band a chance.  Their stories were all the same - flipped port, not accessible, not following the band rules, etc. At first I was thinking to myself, "Did I make the right decision????"  Then after reading that they weren't even following the band rules, I realized I did make the right decision. One lady even admitted that her reason for weight gain with the lap band was too much ice cream.  WELL, YEAH!  So, I've made a couple notes for why I personally love the band.

1. It forces me to take my time at every meal.  I have to chew well, slow down my eating in order for the band to work properly and food not to get stuck. How is that so wrong? We've slowed our eating pace so we get fuller faster.

2.  When at good restriction, I cannot eat breads, pasta, etc. - my problem areas. I love these foods with a passion, but when they don't sit right, I'd rather be without them than be in pain.

3.  It's REVERSIBLE and ADJUSTABLE!

I know you are all on my side about this and have so many other good points to say about this band, which I encourage you to do!  It was so discouraging to read posts from the Revision Forum.  From now on, I'll stick to this forum.   So glad I didn't visit that forum when I was contemplating revision surgery. I'd be so lost and confused based on their lack of knowledge and experience. To the true lap-banders on here, thank you for being genuine and honest. Let's keep it that way!!

Apparently she wasn't following the band rules, according to her the only people that need a revision from band to band, band to anything are those that don't follow the rules.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

LMAO! So she's one of them huh?

I can't help it, but I just think it's karma when one of the BAND BASHERS starts having issues with THEIR band!!!

My band slipped from basically being over stressed/worked due to being too tight.  My doctor didn't have fluoro x-ray like he does now, so it was a guessing game every time I'd get a fill. I also paid way too much attention to the feedback (not doctor advice) from the posters on here about what true restriction was and the sweet spot.  3 years ago that was all everyone talked about and if you ate more than 1/4 cup a food at a meal, you were eating too much.  I'm not blaming everything on this forum- there was a lot I was doing wrong, but I was led to believe that I was not tight enough, when in reality, I was overly tight.  Anyway, my band slipped downward, not upward, which caused me to gain weight rapidly because I was basically back to eating like I did before the band.

This is an unfair post.

The majority of revisions on the revision board most certainly did follow the rules.  The band has issues, no way around it.  But to blame every single person revising to another surgery type as not following the rules and doing something wrong is unfair and incorrect.

The band is not reversible, it is removable.

I can show you 100 people in the last 6 months that followed the band rules and it didn't work and they are posting on the very same board where you can only find people not following the magical rules.  I am one of them.

My band is the same way with bread and pasta.  My band hates bread and pasta.  Which is fine with me because other wise I probably would cheat.  I like the white bread and rolls and the white pasta...so it's not good carbs I'm missing.  I also can't eat fries...another weakness gone now.

It also helps with portion control.  I haven't eaten pizza in awhile but the last time I ate pizza I was able to eat two 3 inch squares...before I would eat a whole medium pizza by myself.  So it does help with portions.

I wi**** wouldn't allow cookies, cakes and chips go down so easily.  So I have to use my own will power for things like that.  So far my will power is working.  There are Girl Scout cookies all over this freakin' place...but I haven't had one!!!

If the band is so great then why are u having to get another one so soon???

1. Yes the band can make u take time with your meals.
2. So how often is this???
3. NO! it's REMOVABLE...........NOT REVERSABLE! U will have damage from the band even when it is  REMOVED!!!

Define "true lap-banders"?
