Maria,
I am really sorry the lap band didn't work for you.  Fortunately, everyone is not the same.  Prayerfully, I will have good results. I'm willing to work hard.  Do what I need to do as far as eating and exercise.  If I do what I'm suppose to do with those two things I will lose weight with or without the band  It's just going to be a tool to assist me on my journey.  I'm not looking for the magic "pill" anymore.  I'm relying on me and the assistance of a little band.  I'm not setting myself up for failure.

I've done a lot of research and I know the pros and cons of all the surgeries.  The Lap Band is the best choice for me.  Again, sorry it wasn't for you.
That is very true that if u do what you are suppose to do as far as eating right and exercising that u will lose weight! But that does NOT mean that the band will be of any assistance!!! I hear continuously on this forum that the band is a "tool". Well if it's not working...........NO IT'S NOT! Kind of like trying to fix a leak in the pipe with a broken wrench............IT JUST DOESN'T WORK!

I do wish u the best of luck with the band. However I do beleive that statistically, u will NOT be saying the same thing about the band in the next few yrs.!

I know there are a lot of negative comments on the boards.  Seems like it always comes from the same people.  I know who they are (from reading on here) and I try to take what they say with a grain of salt.  I do appreciate honest people like you (and other well wishers on here) who seem to have someone's best interest at heart.

Thanks so much everyone.

If I didn't have your best interest at heart I would not have even bothered to post to u!

If u want to take what I say with a grain of salt that is fine, but why the hell would u take what the ASMBS says about the band with a grain of salt?!?!?! That makes NO sense at all!!!

I just wanted to add that Maria has lost over 100 pounds since April of 2009, but her band hasn't worked for her.

she did it by dieting not the band .. duh lol

don't we all diet.. I mean I hate to call it that because it is a lifestyle where we make more healthy choices than not... but it's a diet. I mean seriously she thought the band wasn't going to make her want to eat.. or where she could eat two bites and be satisifed..

she is miserable .. I think this site is probably the only social interaction she has..

I totally agree with you Hermosa, my doc told me if you dont think you have to diet getting this band then you are for a rude awakaing and you will proabably fail at losing weight.

I hate the word diet and like you use life style change but it all does boil down to the "D" word diet.

The only thing the band has done for me is help control my portion sizes that is all , that is all I knew it would do for me.

I knew it wouldnt keep me from eating those chips, I knew it wouldnt keep me from over eating because you can with the band , I knew if I ate to many carbs or sugars I wouldnt lose weight.

It's all abotu how much you put into WLS on how successful you will be with it imo.

I dont go looking for this sweet spot , or restriction hell I dont even think about it.  I eat my meals, I do my exercise, and I drink my water that is all I need to worry about and I have been successful thinking that way :o)

Some ppl are too moronic to understand plain English! I expected to diet. I did NOT expecet to pay $15,000 to lose weight ONLY by dieting! I had completely realistic expectations of the band.

Let's see how u and Hermosa feel about the band when it CRAPS OUT on you two in the next few years!
