cups or ounces????

Have recently had a fill and need a very specific answer on how to measure food. Do I measure by cups, as in 1/2 cup(volume) or by ounces (as in weight)?

How much protein do I eat and how much vegetable? and if you answer, is it in volume or weight?

I read and then am confused more after reading.

I need some success and it's being elusive. I am waiting to "feel" like I've had enough and that's not working.

I was told volume...half a cup in volume.  2 oz of meat is about a quarter cup, veggies or low carb fruit to make up the rest is an adequate meal.  At this point I can eat half a cup of meat and quarter cup of veggies/sides.

You will get so many different answers on this question because every doc is different.

I was told it was more important to go by volume then weight so I measure like this

1/2 cup of protein already cut up how you are going to eat it
1/4 cup of veggies
1/4 cup of veggie or carbs

And as far as "feeling" like you had enough I never get that full feeling anymore .  I eat my one cup of food and wait about 20 min and I'm satisfied with what I ate .

You will always always be able to eat more then you should, but because you can dont mean you should.

I can always eat more then my one cup of food but I dont , I know one cup of food is enough and that will keep my body going.

We are told different things but I cannot see the logic of going by weight! It is sruely volume that matters to us?

But as protein is measured in grams - I eat 60gms or mreo a day of protein.

I eat as many veg as I can fit in once I have eaten a 1/2 cup or so of protein. I also have veg and fruit for snacks. There is no way that I can see that we can get in enough fruit and veg as our portions are so small so I tend to eat them whenever i can.

It often takes several fills to get real restriction.

Weight is important for calorie counting accuracy, but volume in my opinion is most important for a bandster that needs to control portion size.  Remember, your pouch holds only about 3-4 oz of food at one time.  (Keeping in mind that food starts working it's way through your stoma immediately after eating.)

My nut says 1/3-1/2 cup servings, 60-80 g or protein and veggies if you can fit a few in.

Best~

Thanks so much. I think my problems have been of my own doing; either I didn't listen, wasn't ready to learn or just was not wanting to hear that I had some responsibility in learning to use this tool. I had been surfing this site and taking in info, but it wasn't until this latest fill did have to start walking the walk.
