I've had my lap-band 1 year Feb. 1st. Everything was fine until I moved from Ohio to Kentucky in July last year. Since then I've had troubles with not being able to eat. I don't know if it's stress related or what but in Nov. I had to go have an unfill because I couldn't even get liquid down. He took out 2 cc's from my 14cc band that had 10cc's actually in it. I went back a month and half later, 11 lbs heaveier I might add and he put 1cc back in. Now for the last week or so I've not been able to eat much at all and when I do I get really bad pain between my breasts, my left side by my pancreas, and through to my back. It doesn't feel like a normal stuck episode. It's much worse. I've been stuck before but usually burping helps it go away. This time nothing helps. I just end up burping up the food thats in my pouch for hours until I finally have to throw it up. I did the liquids for 2 days to try and help the swelling as my Dr. instructed me to do and tried to eat some thin instant mashed potatoes and sure enough, the pain came back. I just had to go throw up a potato chip I had 4 hours ago and ther was something I didn't recognize in the toilet and I looked at it and realized it was a piece of corn from 2 days ago. How in the heck could that be? Do you think it was stuck in there for 2 days? I've been able to get liquids down. I dunno how it could stay in there like that. I hope that is what was causing me so many problems and I'll feel better now. If not I'm seriously thinking about getting this thing taken out. I've lost the 11lbs. since Dec. 20th plus 6lbs. this last week. This pain is unbearable and I can't even take any pills to help with it. I know once he takes fluid out i'm going to gain weight back. I just wonder what the steps are to get another surgery. Ugh....Ouch.

I am sorry this is happening to you. Could your doc try a smaller fill/unfill? Most of us find that as our bands get fuller, 1 or 2cc is just too much - in either direction. A more usual fill would be 0.5 to 1cc. In my own case, even less than that makes all the difference. I had an unfill last week and the doc took out just 0.1cc! And that relieved my heartburn but left me with good restricition.

I agree with Kate.  I had the same thing happen to me that is happening to you.  My surgeon took out .2 ccs and I was perfect.  I would ask the surgeon to take out the fluid he put in and then refill VERY VERY slowly.  If it's still is a problem you need to have a total unfill.  There could be some swelling that is aggravated by fluid in your band.

Also I would have the surgeon look at your band via fluoro...if he hadn't one so already.  Just to make sure there aren't any slips.  You can never be to careful.

Good luck.  I hope you feel better soon.

It's very possible that the corn or something else was stuck in your pouch.  You may need an unfill to release whatever it is/was and give your parts time to recuperate.  I know my doc would suggest a complete unfill for 2 weeks.  Not fun but you must take care.  I have similar pain when I over-fill my pouch.  I'm not stuck but too full.

It's impossible to know what's wrong until you have it checked out.  See your surgeon a.s.a.p.  Don't wait for it to resolve itself, that probably won't happen be cause it sounds like you've irritated your stoma and mabye  your esophagus.

Get it checked out so you can feel better and have piece of mind.

In the meantime, no potato chips or corn, (both hard for me on a good day much less when I've having troubles with swelling, etc.).

Take care.

I hope yo get relief soon..
I just went this week and had my pa take out 0.3ml...

I think I have been a tad too tight for 2 months, but was not sure.. Then I started thinknn about what I was eating and realized that I was not able to eat more than one or two bites of GOOD food before feeling too full...
(but cookie dough was not a problem)...
And not being able to eat good stuff left me as a random picker....so lost nothing...

Now I can eat some chicken and not fill too full, and then I am not hungry and picking..

After much thinking, I think the corn was indeed stuck in my pouch for a couple days. The only reason I looked at it so carefully because there was something black in the toilet and i knew I hadn't eaten anything black. Then I realized it was the piece of corn and it was purple from the grape juice I had been drinking. That leads me to believe that it had been there for some time absorbing the grape juice thus turning it dark. I don't think it would have been sitting around in my larger stomach for 2 days and I don't think it was just sitting in my pouch or I would have thrown it up long before. I sure hope this was the culprit and that it's taken care of. I'm going to be still doing liquids to make sure I give it a chance to heal. Whew that was scary and I'd never had pain like that before. I knew it just wasn't a regular stuck episode. If it continues I will be having an unfill weight gain or not. Thanks all!
