You can still go out to dinner, just have good planning:
- pick someplace that offers a lot of different things, so you both can find something to eat.
- make a mental note of where the bathroom is, just in case.
- follow the basic rules: eat SLOWLY, SMALL bites, chew thoroughly.
- put your fork down between bites and pause before attempting another one. It's possible that you'll feel full after only a couple of bites.
Another alternative is to order from your favorite place, but get it to go and take it home. You can still enjoy a nice meal, still be doing something nice for your wife, and yet worry less.

How sweet of you to be thinking of her and wanting to make it special. No matter what you serve throw some candles on the table and set it as nice as you can and it will be special to her.
One of my favs is a pot roast. Put it in the crock pot with some onions, carrots and potato. It will be nice and moist for you and you can eat the meat and veggies. Place a can of creamed soup in it and you have your gravy. Did I mention candles????

I had a lap band for foreverbefore I got switched to DS and the HARDEST thing for me while out at a restaurant was not drinking while eating... I don't know if this is an issue for you as well. I think the idea of bringing everything home is a good one... set up a little carpet picnic in front of the fire or T.V. depending what you like and enjoy!
Good luck! and have a wonderful valentines day!
