After surgery, I noticed that I had the same issue. It went on for about 5-6 days and the burps started. The 2nd week after surgery, I still had times where I couldn't burp but eventually I was able to burp everytime I needed to. It will pass.

Oh Good Lord I burp all the time.  No warning , it just comes flying out.  I think I could embarass a sailor.  Bad thing is I answer phones and page overhead in a hospital for a living.  I pray every day that this will not be the day I let one rip on the PA.

I couldn't burp for the first two or three years. i can now but it's very rare! My gas goes the other way!!!

Someone above asked if it might be related to tightness. In my experience, it's compeletely unrelated!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

For me it's related to how tight my band is.  If I'm bordering on too tight of a fill (or my band is being moody) I can't burp.   I keep a pretty loose fill, so most of the time I have no problem burping.
