Why I can eat potatoe chips and onion dip and not get stuck but the good things (as in good for me ) cause me trouble? I have had success and this band is aged but the science behind slider foods including low carb candy is beyond me...I understand all about it intellectually but holy smokes what eva....

I've always attributed it to anything that turns to liquid or a really soft consistency once wet is a slider.  I know, it's weird that I can eat potato chips and yet a pea will be rejected!  I also find it strange that I can't eat lettuce or spinich.  You'd think they would turn to mush but man, if you've ever had a lettuce leaf block your stoma opening, you know it doesn't work that way!

Well, like all things that are worth having, you have to do some work in order for it to have real value!

Life's just not that easy, right?

Lisa-so true huh-I can eat chips and dip ( and I do not do it often) but try something like fruit or meat and I am stuck with one bite-Love my band but I think there is a mind of its own thing going on!

I think that, as Lisa says, it is if things turn to total mush/liquid before you swallow them So something really soft like a ripe banana is really hard for me because however hard you try somehow you just can't chew a banana and although soft if does not dissolve.

Chips dissolve!

Some days dense protein get stuck in me and it comes back up... and some days I can eat dense protein with no issues.. weird

There are some days I eat slider food and it will get stuck sometimes and come back up.

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

Also slider foods for some people are not slider foods for me.  I have heard people call eggs and cottage cheese and ground beef slider foods...well for me they fill me up quite nicely.  Now cookies, chips, and cake those slide right through.

What is that about-I cannot eat ground beef and cottage cheese is only possible with fruit on it (Breakstone). Eggs are a day to day thing-Thanks so much for chiming in-

For me, it's the moisture factor.  I actually got stuck on eating dry cereal.  ( operator error)

I've never PB'd and only been stuck 4 times in 19 months.
Dry 93% hamburger
DRY cereal
DRY turkey pepperoni
Fish followed by 2 itsy bites of  DRY 100% whole wheat, toasted, sandwich thin ( don't try this at home, the wheat with the fish cemented together and ended up as a 2 HOUR painful stuck episode)

So maybe I'm not normal, but this is my reality.  Kristi, ummmm, don't eat DRY food. hahaha

I hope I don't have another stuck episode for a long, long time.
