Those calculators are not geared toward obese patients with lap bands!  You have to consider capacity, first of all and they "assume" alot about age, activity level, etc.  My nut said that they aren't even close to accurate because they are geared to those just overweight.

Listen to your Surgeons advice is the best advice since they are managing your after care, but in general most band patients here stay under 1500 calories.  Me?  My nut had me on 800-1000 a day and I never felt deprived, weak or sick.

Best~

No, they are designed for obese people as well.  They are looking at BMR as well as BMI.  The more you weigh the more calories it takes daily just to keep your heart beating, your lungs breathing, etc.

Here is an explanation;

When you hear about 1-2 pounds a week that is an average throughout your weight loss. In the beginning I lost 33# in 33 days BUT... at the end I would lose 1/2# every week or two. So you want an average. The larger your BMI the faster your weight loss in the beginning.

If you want to slow down your weight loss you can follow those guidelines from Livestrong.com but I wouldn't. ;o)
