string cheese is another healthy protein snack or a couple of whole wheat crackers with a bit of peanut butter

I love nuts but they tend to make me want more.  If you can tolerate celery, it is enjoyable with 1 tbs of peanut butter down the crack.  Very filling, especially because you have to chew it very slowly, watching out for strings.  Hope it's helpful to you on your journey.

I focus on fruit for snacks because I get enough protein during my meals but I don't get enough servings of fruit.  So I will eat apple slices...proven to help speed up metabolism...it's true look it up.  (My doctor encourages apples, red wine and green tea because studies have shown these things help speed up your metabolism).
I also have my favorites like: strawberries, grapes, bananas and cantaloupe...yummy.  Fruit is also a great source of good carbs.  Perfect to eat before a workout.

I stay away from "grab and go" food because they tend to be high in carbs(sugar) or sodium.    Also my nut encourages fresh whole foods...no prepackaed, canned or frozen.  Of course almonds are good...except I would have them unsalted.

I didn't know that about apples. Thanks for the info. I will add an apple in. I drink green tea a lot, so that is also good to know!

Hmmmm..maybe soak the apples in red wine and have green tea after?

My staples are (depending on whether I am at home or not), almonds, other nuts, 1/2 apple/pear/banana, other fruits, yoghourts.

I just found something new that I love.  It's Sandler's Smokehouse Smoked Beef Brisket from Walmart.  It's vacuum-packed, so has a long shelf-live until opened, is very lean (and remaining fat easily removed), and has a wonderful, smoky flavor.  It is pricey, but a pack lasts me a long time.  I freeze it away in small portions so I can grab and go.  It's sort of similar to snacking on jerkey, but not as salty or as chewy.

That's amusing.  Sadler's is made in the town I live in.  It is pretty good.
