Hi everyone! I am finally taking the plunge. I'm a 41 yr old mother of 4 and married to a physician that has been both my supporter & nay say-er. We attended Dr. Blackstone's seminar about 3 yrs ago but stalled on the follow through. My husband would often hear about the problems/complications of the lap band while @ work. He got nervous and backed off the idea of my having surgery. I am hoping & praying that complications will not arise if I am a compliant patient and follow the program to a "T" IE not cheat. I am really interested in reading and seeing how the long timers are doing. My hubby has seen his share of lap band folks who completely "fell off the wagon," again I have to believe this is the exception & not the norm!
I can't wait to be able to get some weight off so I can exercise pain free & with ease for once! It will be great to also be more active w/ my kiddos. They are 8,7,5 & 31/2 yr old...I hate that I can't play w/ them the way I want. I will also look forward to getting rid of my back, knee & ankle pains from having to support too much weight.
Well I can only assume that what i have said is common so I'll stop now & go read other posts! I look forward to getting to know others!
Take care
Be well
Suz :)

Hi Suz,
I've only heard Dr. Blackstone is great. Wish you luck with your decision sounds like you have done your homework. The weather here is a lot easier to handle after the weight comes off. Now wi**** would warm up!!!!

Welcome. You will get lots of support and shared experiences on here - both the good and the bad stories. We get lots of "what do you think about the band" posts and so often they don't get many replies - sometimes it goes the other way and we get full blown surgery wars which can be entertaining but not very informative! So it is best to ask specific questions if you have any.
My children are adults and i can tell you that you are doing this at the right time. I play and run with my grandchildren in a way i never could with my own children.
Best wishes, Kate

It sounds like you're pushing yourself WAY to hard.
I don't have a chart in front of me but I'm pretty sure 220-240bpm is far above the max that you want to be hitting.
To answer your questions, yes you Physicians weight loss program should be worried and slow down a bit before you injure yourself.
It's your first week so you shouldn't be trying to do the same number of reps or intensity as Tony and crew.
Scale your intensity back a bit for the first week or two and start ratcheting it up as you go along.

I would think long and hard about banding. It provides the slowest weight loss, the least weight loss, the highest regain, and the most mechanical complications. It has as many risks as bypass, just different risks and if you think being compliant will prevent all the issues you are in error. I was the bandster poster girl and the band about killed me.
Sleeves are far safer long term and loads more effective in weight loss not to mention much easier to live with.
