Do all Lap Band Patient really lose 30 #'s in the first 6 weeks?

Well, if you have be a freak -- this is the best way to do it .  Your accomplishment is terrific and will get you off to a great start with the band. BUT please promise me that you won't be yourself up if you lose much, much slower going forward. One, maybe 2lbs a week is a more average weight loss with the band. I've lost an average of .75lbs per week on my journey.

oops, so sorry I read your post wrong. I see didn't lose the 30lbs. I can't believe this doctor is telling you this -- I would be willing to bet his records have to be for the rny patients. NOT banders.

I'm 4 weeks out from surgery. I got the lap band combined with plication. I've down 12 lbs so far. I don't see myself losing 18 lbs in the next week and a half. Even after I go for a fill next week.

My clinic actually told us you can gain weight in the first 4 weeks!  I lost about 18 lbs in the first 4 weeks.

Get a new Doctor if you can - no one should be treated that way.  Stay strong and keep coming back for support.

Take care,

I lost 30# the first 4 weeks BUT.... my doc had us on clear liquids for 2 weeks and full liquids for 2 weeks. That was back in the day... ;o)

I wouldn't worry a whole heck of a lot about weight loss until you actually get good restriction. Just make good food choices and do the best you can.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

As all the others said don't let him get you down. I would also have to question the fact that he has done 3500 surgeries. In saying that I mean that many bands. Unless he was involved in the trials I find that really hard to believe. Be well

Counting fat grams is so 1990's. Most of us are being told to limit low quality carbs like sugar and white starches, and to make sure we're getting enough protien. I find that I do better when I focus more on nutritious food I "should" be eating instead of the bad food I "can't" have. Exercise and concentrate on eating high quality protien, healthy fats and complex carbs. With your smaller stomach you should have good results. Good luck to ya.Sounds like your doc is a jerk in need of charm school. You should fire him!

I am 7 weeks out and only lost about 16.  I actually gained one back during the past few weeks because I didn't have restriction.  I just had my first fill last week and finally feel some restriction.
