First, I want to thank all *****sponded to my posts.  I'm sorry if I didn't thank you all individually, but I did read everything everyone wrote, and it was very helpful.

Regardless of what it might say over to the side (does anyone know how I can change that?--I can't find it), I have decided *not* to have the lap-band surgery.  I know many of you have had great success with it, and I wish you continued success, but my research shows that long-term success with one is highly questionable.

Meanwhile, my surgeon's office went ahead an appealed the sleeve gastrectomy for me--and I was approved today.  Now I have to decide if I want to do it, as opposed to other options, including non-surgical ones.  I will research it over the next few days and make a decision next week.

Thanks again,
Brian L.

I poked around and for the life of me can't find the spot to update surgery info. Sorry. Congrats on getting your appeal approved. The VSG board is very helpful and I am sure would be glad to answer any questions you have.

Congrats on the appeal/approval. And good luck with whichever way you decide to go. If you can do it non-surgically, more power to you!

To change the info, go to "my account" and then click on "my journey" which will be on left sidebar. From there is appears you need to click the little tool or edit icon to make changes.

Congratulations on getting your approval. I am so glad you have found a surgery that will suit you, if you choose surgery. Either way, good luck.  Sue

Brian I am so happy that u won your appeal. The band has worked well for a few, but long term..........the stats are very low! Even the ASMBS says so!!! And they should know! Lol.

I am very happy that you have re-thought this after researching and finding out what the band stats are long term. I would hate for you to have made the same mistake I did.

Think twice, cut once!

Good luck!

I'm happy for you Brian!  Do this for yourself.  Haven't you tried everything under the sun non-surgical?  Yes, it's a big decision, but don't deny yourself this opportunity to get healthy if you've tried the many many diets before with limited or temporary success.

I'm praying for you that you have an inspired revelation that helps you find peace with whatever decision you make.

Best Wishes,
Lisa O.
