So Proud of my Daughter
When I first started my pre-op program, I had to modify my diet to qualify for surgery. My daughter needed to lose weight too...she was about 229 lbs at 5'2" tall. She ate what I ate and started walking every day, first a mile, then two, then 5 and then she started running...she hasn't stopped. My husband is a runner (6 miles a day at 63 yrs old) and the two of them hit the gym at 7am every morning. Karen has lost about 62 lbs and looks great. She still wants to lose more, but after having triplets 13 yrs ago, and a 9 lb baby boy 15 yrs ago the tummy is a wreck. She isn't happy with her progress, thinks she should lose more, but is resigned to where she is until she can afford her tummy tuck and work from there.
Photo 1: My daughter and I at my grandmother's shortly before she passed away in 2008. I was at my peak weight of 290 and Karen was at her peak. Her kids were chubby too...they have all thinned out a bit (growing). BTW, these kids are my grandma's great-great grandchildren and she was so proud!
Photo 2: My daughter and her husband on their 18th anniversary, heading out for a ride with their Harley group...she has lost more since then, but was down about 45 lbs in this photo.
Karen and my husband are running a half marathon in April...I am so proud of her and her perserverance in losing weight and improving her health.

That's wonderful - real family support! Doing it together must have really helped you both. My family all supported me but didn't need to lose weight!

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Revision on 08/21/12
Thank you Kate, Sue (glad to see you back!), Wendy, Tracy and Trixie! My daughter inspires me...she has been through so much having her babies. She had her son in November 1995 and the girls in February 1998...27 months apart! She was on bed rest for 5 months, 3 weeks of that in the hospital, and then breast fed them until they were 3 months old...they were tiny...the smallest was 2#9oz, but are healthy happy almost 13 yr olds. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful family that includes my son and his family...19, 17 and almost 13 yr old kids...They have been a tremendous support to me in my struggle with my disability and WLS.
Sometimes we are "own" worst enemies.. your daughter is doing great and she is should be proud of her accomplishments. Just remind her by being her Mama..

(too bad stupid Maria had to ruin your post.. she likes the attention.. I ignore sometimes or sometimes I like to poke at formerly fluffy but really after awhile it's all blah blah blah blah plus she wants to re-direct people to her blog)
Kuddos to you :)
