I need motivation in a major way!
I started my weight loss journey in March 2010. I started posting here in August 2010 after I got my surgery date scheduled. At that time I had lost 76 pounds just to qualify for the surgery.
My surgery was scheduled for October 12th. I went for preop testing October 3rd, went through the whole routine, blood tests, barium swallow, ekg, xray, etc. I started my preop diet October 5th and was doing great on it...and then I got a phone call.
The doctor said there was an "abnormality" with my barium swallow but he didn't think it was much to be concerned about it. Nevertheless, they wanted to do a scope to see what it was. So, I went in the day before my surgery, October 11th, and had the procedure. While he was looking around and said "Oh wow, what is THAT?" I instantly started to panic and when he was done he explained that I had a walnut sized mass located in my stomach right where my esophagus ends. So, he couldn't do the surgery until the biopsy came back. Yep, all that work...surgery cancelled.
Biopsy came back and it was apparently scar tissue that was caused by an heliobacter pylori infection. I then found out I had the infection for 12 years! I'm thankful it was that because it could have been much worse, but still...majorly discouraged at that point. I was supposed to go back to the surgeon in December, and then again in January, but guess what? I was snowed in both days.
I have an appointment February 23rd and I'm praying that everything goes well this time around and I can actually get back on track. But it's been so hard to stay focused and stay trying when there has been so many curve balls thrown my way. I was SO close!
Note on my weight: I haven't gained anything back...but I haven't lost anymore weight in the past 4-5 months :( I was really liking the way things were going but it seems my old habits and being discouraged don't really mix well.
