Jolena I have no doubt whatsoever that her post was written about me and not her daughter as she now claims. There would have been no reason for her to make up a story about her BANDSTER A daughter and add 11+ years to her age. if the story were truely about her daughter she would have not said she was a bandster and not changed her age. There was no reason to do that, was there?

And as far as me gaining back if if didn't have the band. Yes, I think I would, just as I think I will now WITH THE BAND. I am so  terrified of regaining the weight or at least part of it since my band does not work! As we all know.........losing is one thing..........keeping it off is something entirely different! Had I not lost the weight I did before the band I could see ppl thinking that I really have lost weight b/c of the band but I lost a good bit of weight before I got the band just by eliminating sweets.

Now did I say some things to Stephanie I shouldn't have? yes. Did I say somethings  to others on here I shouldn't have? yes. However NO ONE on here seems to have a problem about all the nasty insults ppl say to me, now do they??? Will I get reported for this post? yes. Will any of u out there report any of the other that made the nasty comments to me??? Hell no!!!!!!!!!!! U see it should work both ways but it never does on the band forum now does it?!

I appreciate your reply, Maria. I tried to go back and re-read the thread but your posts arent in that thread anymore (???).   I STILL don't think she was attacking you because you had to CORRECT HER INFORMATION ON YOU.    Do you know how many irate letters Dear Abby gets everyday b/c people think the letters are about them??

I have lost 40 lbs since Aug 25th and now wearing 18's instead of very tight 22's.  I'm losing weight in places I've NEVER lost on a diet alone before.  I don't have a "sweet spot" but I feel like in in the "Green zone" as my doc calls it, where I'm full for 3 or 4 hours, losing 1-2 lbs a week and not having stuck problems.    At my doc's visit on monday, I'm down 9 lbs!!  I wouldnt be in these (roomy!) size 18's without this lapband. Oh I could diet and starve myself down to that size ...for a little while. Maybe.   I just know its been a helluva lot easier with my band.

We all have our expections going into this journey and some of us were told B.S. by inexperienced doctors. You know thats why its so important to research.

I am really sorry for your trouble and heartache.  I don't agree with your viewpoint on this but I didnt expect to change your mind.

Namaste

I am an newibie ....and I was afraid to say anything but I was thinking the same thing . 100 pounds lost  AND IT HAS NOT WORKED ?  I had the lap band 4 years ago and HW 315  SW  305 and LW  199  . Ok I had a  couple of unfills do to complications and gained 25 pounds . However I dont think  80 pounds lost ....is a waste .....Hell I would be 300 plus . Just to add I too  at this point want to go to Mexico and get the Sleeve But  I still  dont think the band was or is a waste ...............Actually I am going to go  in today and get a fill ...... giving  it another try .

The part no one wants to read in my posts is that I have lost it ONLY by DIETING. Now when I post that ppl criticize me and say that i am just pissed off b/c I thought it would b a magic bullet and that I thought the weight would just fall off n i wouldnt have to do anything. NOT TRUE.

I have no problem with the amount of weight I lost. I have no problem with dieting. What I do have a problem with is having lost it ONLY by dieting!

So ppl want to say I lost it b/c of the band. Now had I not lost weight..................then they would say I had not lost it b/c I was not "working" the band. I seem to be in a no win situation here with these bandsters.

Congrats on your weight lost but obviously the band is not working as u hoped since u want a revision also.

A diet like this??  this is from the lap band information on the right of the forum....hopefully you read this pre-op and did your research so it wouldn't be a surprise you would have to diet.

Your New Nutrition Plan
When you can eat solid foods without problems you will need to pay close attention to your diet. Liquids will pass through the reduced stomach pouch quickly and will not make you feel full. The LAP-BAND ® System was designed to restrict solids, not liquids. Drinking liquids during or immediately after meals tends to flush food through the pouch and you will not get the prolonged feeling of satiety needed to help you eat less.

Staying hydrated throughout the day is important. Drink at least 6-8 cups of water per day and make sure you consume them between meals.

Many patients have a difficult time with solid foods during the morning hours. If this is the case for you, you can open up your LAP-BAND ® System by starting with a couple of glasses of liquids before your first meal.

Too much food or big chunks of food can block the stomach pouch outlet. You can avoid this problem by chewing food welland eating small bits at a time. It is important to remember that your new stoma opening is approximately the size of a dime. Chew your food adequately so that it can easily fit through the opening.

Eat only three small meals a day and make sure that these meals contain adequate nutrients. Your stomach can only hold about1/4 cup of food or 2 oz. at a time. Stop eating when your hunger is gone or when you feel comfortable.

You may find that the small stomach pouch makes digestion of high-fiber, high-fat and dry foods more difficult. Tolerance will vary from person to person. Ask your surgeon and/or dietitian about your food choices. The general guide below can help you create good and healthy meals that contain adequate nutrients but little sugar and fat.

Good Food Choices

1. Fruits and vegetables

  • 1 to 2 servings of fresh fruit daily
  • 2 to 3 servings of fresh vegetables daily

2. Breads and cereals

  • 1 small portion of low-sugar cold or hot cereal
  • 1/2 to 1 slice of toasted whole wheat or rye bread each day.

Note: some patients have difficulty eating bread.

3. Meat, fish, poultry, eggs
1 oz. to 2 oz. of meat, fish, or poultry or one egg each day. (Remove all visible fat from the meat. Remove the skin from poultry. Prepare the meat in ways that need very little fat. Grilling, steaming, microwaving, or boiling are all good ways to do this.) Note: some patients have difficulty eating meat.

4. Dairy products
Milk and yogurt are calories in liquid form. However, these types of food have calcium, which makes them an important part of a healthy daily diet, so choose a maximum of 2 cups of skimmed milk or low-fat yogurt and 1 oz. of cheese a day.

5. Fats
Restrict the use of fat to 3 to 4 teaspoons of margarine, butter, or oil per day. You can have low-fat salad dressings and mayonnaise in moderation.

6. Drinks
Drink as many calorie-free liquids per day as you wish (though not with meals).Suitable drinks are:

  • tea or coffee (black) with low-calorie sweetener
  • water
  • non-carbonated beverages containing few or no calories

Some doctors have reported that carbonated beverages may contribute to enlargement of the small pouch and recommend they be avoided.

Foods to Avoid
Some foods have a concentrated supply of calories with little nutritional value and should be avoided as much as possible. They include foods such as:

  • syrups
  • cakes
  • biscuits
  • jam
  • honey
  • pies
  • chips
  • pastries

Alcoholic drinks should also be consumed in moderation, for example a glass of wine per day.

Common Problem Foods
Some foods have difficulty passing through the opening of the stoma and may cause blockage. These include foods such as:

  • dry meat
  • shrimp
  • untoasted or doughy bread
  • pasta
  • rice
  • peanut butter
  • dried fruit
  • fibrous vegetables like corn, asparagus and celery
  • nuts
  • coconut
  • popcorn
  • greasy or fried food
  • seeds and skins of fruits and vegetables
  • membrane of citrus fruits

Introduce these foods slowly and individually to see if they are tolerated. Always be careful, chew well, and follow your surgeon’s or dietitian’s advice.

Exercise Guidelines
Incorporating regular physical activity into your daily routine is as important as your nutrition plan. Often patients have been sedentary due to decreased activity tolerance, psychological constraints, and in some cases, physical disabilities. After LAP-BAND ® System surgery, aerobic activities—particularly walking and swimming—are generally best tolerated. Consult your surgeon and weight management team to find out which activity is right for you.

Omg! There u go AGAIN! Making crap up! I always expected to diet WITH the band. I just didn't expect it to be the ONLY way I would lose weight WITH the band! Apparantly you are not intelligent enough to understand what I write. So sorry!

For future reference. If you don't understand.........please keep your comments to yourself and stop trying to cause drama on the forum!

Have a nice day! :-)

I am pretty new here and haven't posted much but I gotta say that after reading some of you posts, Maria your are acting a bit out of control and maybe even a little paranoid? Don't take this the wrong way, but it don't make no sense at all to be stirring up s**t and getting all hot under the coller.  Just makes you look bad...Jus sayin.
