How long do you think the food actually "stays" in the pouch??

I have been waiting 1 hour after I eat before I drink. Does the food actually really stay in your pouch that long?? I think it passes through quicker than that.

Has anyone experimented with waiting 30 mins VS waiting 1 hour after? Did you notice a difference in hunger?

Hmmm.... maybe I will experiment. Every day is different with the band... so not sure that will do any good.

I try to wait 30min after eating before I drink...

I dont know how long it stayes in the pouch but I was told the no drinking rule was to prevent stuck episodes not so you wont wash the food through the pouch..

I mean it's gonna have to go to the big stomach to get digested anyway right?

My doctor requires no drinking 30 min prior and after.. I was never told an hour I guess it depends on the doc.

I don't always follow the 30 min before.. but I do follow the 30 min after..

I am not sure what my current surgeon suggests. [horrible.. I know] I was banded by a Dr in Colorado... and never really had great after care since I was out of state. I am making a list of things to ask my new guy now that I am back on track.

My doctor told me it has to do with being satisfied longer instead of mixing the food into a thin mush that can go through faster. It makes a difference for me. I don't follow the 30 minutes before a meal but I do follow the 30min-1 hour rule after. I rarely wait an hour but 30-45 minutes seems to work well for me. I don't like to mess around with satiety because it gets real easy to start grazing.

I wait 30 min to 45 min after I eat to start drinking again sometimes a hr if I keep myself busy and dont think about it.

I do wait 30 min before also why we have to wait I dont know that is a question I will need to ask lol .  Water goes right through you anyways so I dont know understand the 30 min before but I do it anways when Im at home when Im out to dinner I dont .

I don't wait the half hour before. I can feel my water go through... so I am comfortable with not waiting before.

I have heard tha****er before makes the everything slippery so the food can slide through but then I've heard to drink a full glass right before eating to help you fill up??? who knows?

I haven't heard the slippery thing before. Hmmm. I'll have to ask my surgeon tomorrow the "why" behind waiting before.
