For me...drinking water makes it worse. I have to wait a good 15 to 20 mins before I can put liquids down after I have eaten something.  Are you chewing your food slow enough?  I used chopstix to get me to eat slower.  Just something to try.  Stand up too...do not sit down.  Good luck...slow down.

No way of telling! Keep moving, stretch your arms up high. Heat pad (won't solve anything but makes pain feel a bit better!).

I wouldn't drink - anything else is just going to go on top of what is already there and make things worse.

Hope it goes up or down soon! I can't really help as this has never happened to me, but those are things which help me with much milder episodes.

Oh Spud!!  I'm so sorry!!   This is your first episode, right?   Don't drink when this happens.
Do all the things Kate said and give it time.   I hope it clears up soon for you.  Must be scarey the first time it happens.   I think someone forgot to chew chew chew!!  Or maybe the chicken was too dry.  Whatever, it happened.   Oh dear.

Sue, it usually means that you have eaten too quickly withotu chewing or the food was too dry or fibrous. So it can,. with care, be avoided. If you are too tight, it can't be avoided! If you are toot ight, you get stuck too easily and only soft foods go down.

Not everyone, but most people get it wrong at least once! Good behaviour modification!!! I have been fortunate in that I have only ever had one painful episode and that only lasted a short time but that epsiode was just after I started normal foods - i.e. when i was not used to band eating.

It could mean several things....

~ she didn't chew well enough

~ the chicken was too dry

~ she doesn't tolerate chicken

~ her bite might have been too big

It can mean lots of things.

Sorry your having problems. Papaya Enzyme can help digest protein so that may be something you want to keep on hand.

Also when you are stuck like that the acid in coke can do the same sometimes. Coke will often help it go down, but sometimes it will come back up. (Note this is the only time that I would recommend carbonation, and just a few sips at that!)
