1 day post op
So today was my first official day post op. I was banded Monday afternoon, slept most of the evening and tuesday spent in the hospital. I did my liquid 4oz over an hour and had my jello. Not feeling hungry at all which is the best part. My doc sent me home on tablet percocet and NOT having any trouble swallowing the tablets. Did anyone else leave the hospital with tablets? I am a little concerned about swallowing pills so early on. The pain is way more than I expected but my brain is finaly catching up to my body and realizing that I did have my adobmen cut into so I am starting to understand. Any tips for a first week postop? ALL ARE WELCOME, THANKS GUYS!
I too had a hernia repair, it seems like that is very common with this surgery. I feel really sore but tolerable, Im trying to move as much as possible to expel some of this gas in my tummy. any suggestions for the gas? Im a stomach sleeper so this being my first night home its no surprise that Im up. LOL I dont know if I will ever get used to sleeping on my back. Im sure I will be sending you and all the other OH members questions constantly as this journey begins. Thanks so much
I have a box of the gas x strips, plan on trying them if I cant expel naturally. My chest is very very tight, I have asthma but it doesnt feel like those symptoms. Just sore and tight like Ive been coughing a long time but I havent at all. My liquids are going down fine, just been having water and some broth and a lil jello. I have to remind myself to drink because I never feel thirsty
Glad all went well. Myself I did not need the gas-x. Did not have too much trouble with the gas other than burping! I was banded 0n the 1st of Feb. Doing well. I was on liquids two weeks before and one week later. Tomorrow after my appointment, soft (prueed)foods. The incision for my port is the one that bothers me the most. I too use my heating pad for my back. But it is all good. I really dont know abunch but if you have a question please ask.

My two tips are... to help with the pain at the port site gently press your hand on the site when getting up and sitting down and you will most likely experience pain in your chest or back... that is gas and I used a heating pad on where ever the pain was and it seemed to get rid of the pain.
