I'm getting back on track had band  issue for about the 4th time lol.  Is it bad to eat over 1000 calories? I will be working out 30 mins of cardio and 20 or 30 for toning.  I have eaten already 395 calories 34 grams of pro and for lunch is another 220 18 grams of pro. Dinner I am having some chicken and pepers onions and chick peas a little mashed.  Do you think it to much food I think I will be on point for my protein.  I did eat two cookies so my problem is 150 cals I stupidly added on  to my day =(.  Let me know what you think I see so many things on this site one it's not enough the other it's to much.

I try to eat approx 1200 - 1400 (at the most I really try not to go over 1400) and I exercise 60-90 min a day so I net about 700-1000 a day... 3 meals 1 snack and sometimes 1 dessert at night like sugar free jello or pudding or popsicle.. depends..

No one person is the same I think you need to plan the week.. make sure you get plenty of protein, veggies, fruit and couple of bites of whole grain in you can (you really need complex carbs when your working out) and see how you do for two weeks if your not losing enough then mix it up.

I try to vary how many calories I consume a day with how much I expend at the gym. Don't be so hard on yourself because you ate cookies you accounted for them and if you go to the gym tack on another 15 min of cardio to lose at least 1/2 of cookie calories ..

It's true, it seems everyone does something different.  For me, I am doing what my dr has told me to do.  When I asked recently if I had to count calories I was told no.  I was told that if I eat what is on my program to eat and in the recommened portions then I will not have to count calories.  Sounds good to me and accurate.  I eat 3 meals a day and 1 snack in the eve.  My plan is simple.  1/3 cup of protein 3X a day with 1/4 cup veggie or fruit.  I can now have some complex carbs but only once a day in place of the veg or fruit.  Yogurt and fruit at night and 2 additional cups skim milk a day.  That's it, short and simple.   Have I been perfect?  Nope.  But I follow my plan 99% of the time.  My desire for sweets is gone.  I just want some good food!   Would I like to eat more???  You betcha.   I try real hard not to.   I know I am new at all this so I can only pray that I continue to do what I need to.

Your 1000 calories does not sound unreasonable to me.  I wish you the best and hide those darn cookies or get rid of them!!!  LOL   Don't beat yourself up over them tho either.  2 cookies is better than half or the whole bag!!!

Thanks all for the advice I appreciate it it was so easy when I started i never knew 5 years later I would be having issues.

Hello, I am new to this website and while I was browsing I noticed that you said that your band slipped four times. How can you tell if your band has slipped? I am having some problems and when I spoke to my doctor about it he told me that if my band had slipped I would be losing weight rapidly.

I didn't actually count regularly but my usual calorie intake was never under 1200. There may be a difference in UK and US guidleines on this as in the UK we are told never to eat under 1200 on any diet unless we take supplements as our nuts say you cannot get a balanced diet on less. But I know many US nuts give different advice! So who knows! Go with what works for you!

I was counting calories since I had my band placed and I got so FED up!!! I don't count calories no more...I didn't have the band placed so I can do the same thing I was doing before. I eat till I'm full, if I am eating the right foods then the scale goes down. I eat high protein, low carb and it works for me. I did the 1000 calorie thing and stalled for 6 months but when I started eating more calories about 1350-1400 a day I lost 7 lbs in one month. You have to find what is right for your body, I don't think that there is 1 magic number for everyone.

You are all right I'm only counting now to try to get back in a routine really.  My problem is I love soup and I eat it every day I know not good for being full but super dooper love it lol!!!  To top it off I know have kidney disease in my only kidney and now I have to really be healthy to try to keep it from progressing to worse and worse stages.

I know if my band slipped I can't keep anything down and sometimes it's just food but on really bad times it's even drinking.  You can loose a lot of weight quickly I did 30 lbs in 3 weeks.  With a  slipped band they take a look at it unfill you completely and make you do liquids for about a month to see if the rest will move the band back in place.  The swelling of your Stoma causes it to happen so once it has time to rest it goes back.  Some people have had no problems with their band I have had many but still love my decsion to do it..
