I guess when I initially had my band with dr. Trace Curry, I went with the best because he did an amazing job! I had no concerns, I had no issues, my stomach still looked beautiful and now today, something is seriously with my stomach. I moved to New York where I am originally from a doctor here did and there is a huge indent where the port is an an egg sized mushy swollen thing above it. I had to be vain but something is seriously wrong. I'm going there today at 10:00 to see what this is. It's excruciating like he stiched something wrong IDK! Has anyone had any problems like this?

I'm happy my band is back, and I've lost 10 lbs, but I'm scared to death that something is seriously wrong!!!!!!!!!! This pain is horrible.

say prayers, grant wishes please!!!!!!!

I'll post pics when I get back, I just have to figure out how!

Maybe an accumulation of fluid/blood above the port?  Let us know what you find out.

yea- sounds like a seroma to me. Kristie, Are antibiotics the normal course of treatment for those or do they have to be drained too?

I would guess that it depends on how large it is.  As far as the antibiotics, I'm not sure what they do.  It sounds uncomfortable.  Maybe Jean would know...

Sounds like a seroma, common with any surgery...very painful, but not a huge complication.  Sometimes they can draw some fluid out, sometimes they resolve themselves.  I'm sure your doctor will be able to help with the pain.

Never a surgery like the original because your tissue is not virgin, it has already been worked on.

It sounds like something is off and it is very wise that you are right on it.

I don't know who your surgeon is in NYC, but we have plenty of great ones here.

I wish you the very best.

Hey guys, had the surgery out here in long island new york in southampton. anyway i went to go see him and he states that he sutured the port so tightly in that it caused a buldge of skin to overlap the site where the port is, and everything is normal. I knew it wasn't a seroma or anything (I'm a nurse) and nothing looks infected, I hate to second guess the doctors reasoning for suturing in a port that tightly to cause overlap BUT what the heck is that necessary for and how long is it going to be sunken in like that!!!!!!! I hope not long! It's hidious looking and it hurts like HE$%..

K thanks for listening!

Shoot Crystal - if you don't like the way that port area looks now, you won't like it later!  How is it going to fix itself - pop?  Not meaning to be a pain but I get where you are coming from and I think we kinda been there and know what we want.

The port site hurts no matter what - so maybe do it now so you won't have to do it again.  For me, the port site hurt initially, it hurt when I got a new port, it hurt when the port was removed AND it stays sore or at least uncomfortable for a couple of weeks.

Best,
L

Well, my doctor for my first port replacemnt surgery on 1/2010 sutured it so well, that when I did sit ups the port tore from the site! I got to have another port replacement surgery 12/30/2010. Guys, sometimes securing things too tight isn't good either- I think surgeons need sewing lessons! Praying for you! K
