Lap Band after Heller Myotomy

I was scheduled to have lapband surgery and was found to have achalasia during the upper gi.  I must have a heller myotomy to correct this.  I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if this will preclude me from having lapband surgery.

Sorry, I don't know what either of those things are but I sure hope things work out for you.

Exactly the same as Lyn said!  Best wishes.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi - I just read about this on Web MD.  It sounds pretty serious.  Have you talked to your WL Surgeon yet?

I'm praying for you

The one to consult on this is a good gastroenterologist and your band doctor.  I have never seen anyone on this forum post about this.  The closest has been questions on Barrets esphogus.  Good luck.

So did you have some symptoms with your achalasia?  Since you had an UGI, I'm guessing you did and that's why they did that test?

You will have to let us know what you find out about the band and good luck with your surgery.

I would really encourage you to look at other options for WLS.  If you already have esophageal problems the band might not be for you.

While your condition is usually easily treated it can come back in full force depending on which treatment you opt for.  The band is already hard on your esophagus, but starting out the door with esophageal problems, it might not be a great option for you.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.
