Hi all I have been going back and forth on getting surgery for years. I then was about to do it and got pregnant. I had my baby girl in March 2009 and had a c-section and every complication that could happen happened. I now have a huge umbilical hernia. I weighed 500 lbs about when I had my daughter and now weigh 419.
I'm having surgery next Wed. I'm very excited yet nervous.
I read good things about banding but then I read bad things. It I feel is the best surgery for me and my current health condition. I'm on my Pre op diet right now. So hopefully all goes well.
I'm just worried about being able to take care of My almost 2 year old. She is very attached to me and it is going to be hard. I will have help which is good.
Just wanted to say hi.

Good Luck Carrie..

In about 10 days after the surgery you feel back to normal.. I did at least and in the long run your doing this for yourself and I'm sure to be more active with your daughter you will get through..

Feel free to post and ask any questions :)

Hi Carrie and welcome!!!   You have made a huge and right decision for both you and your daughter!!  Congrats!!   I pray everything goes well for you and you can start on your journey to get healthier. It's got to be hard at your current weight to take care of your daughter even now so it can only get better!   The after surgery is not bad at all.  You'll be sore but shouldn't be in great pain or anything.  Are they doing your surgery laproscopically or will you have a large incision?
If it's laproscopically it won't be bad at all.
What is your pre-op diet like?   Everyone's drs are all so different.  Mine was a 2 week liquid pre-op and 2 week post-op.   I'm now almost 2 months out and eating regular foods.  I'm not real hungry and was able to pass up my first fill at 6 weeks.

All weight loss surgeries have risks and pros and cons.  You'll hear many surgery wars on this site.  The band is not for everyone.  You just have to go into it with a positive attitude and hope for the best.  Everyone is different and their success or failure stories vary.   Just give it your honest and best shot.  Be prepared to change your eating habits greatly.

Nice to meet you and I will support you all I can as will many others.

Hi thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. My pre op diet is shakes and one meal. I'm starving though!! I know it will get better. I'll be having lots of questions I'm sure so it's nice to see friendly people.
