Got First Fill Today

Oops - I accidentally posted this to the main forum - when I opened the message board forgot to click on to lap band forum!  Silly me! :)

Hi everyone.  Got my first fill today...I am 6 weeks out after my band on 12-30-10 and I've lost 29 pounds according to their scale and 25 pounds according to mine (going with mine since I can weigh at home once a week).  Doc put 5cc in my 10cc band.  He did it by fluoroscopy because I am also a gastric bypass patient and he wanted to be sure how the liquid flowed through the band once it was filled.  I was glad that he did at least this one by fluoroscopy from what I've read on this message board...he had to "poke" me twice as the first time he undershot the area of the port and got it the 2nd time...didn't hurt the first time, stung a bit the second but I survived!!!  That was quite an experience.  So, I'm on liquids today and if a protein drink goes down okay tomorrow I can begin real foods again but gosh, I'm a bit scared at that thought as I know I really need to work on chew chew chew and I don't want any problems so am going to probably stick to like tuna salad for lunch, that type of thing - I had chicken over the weekend, white meat, and it was so dry, so I thought gosh, how is that gonna be?  AND I didn't "chew chew chew" knowing I had no restriction...anyway, I am excited to continue on the weight loss wagon and just wanted to share my first fill experience with you!

THanks for posting this. I am 4 weeks out today. My first fill is next week. It's good to hear the experiences others have with their fills, especially their first one. It helps me know what to expect.

Yeah, it was kind of a weird experience...I was really nervous not knowing fully what to expect but it worked out good with no worries.  I thought he would start out really "small" like 1-2 cc's and I was prepared to say "please, at least 4?"  But he said he usually starts at 5cc so I was like cool beans...now, tomorrow when I eat real food...we'll see if I think the same way LOL! :)

Glad that's over for you.  Yes, do be careful when you go back on your foods.  5cc souunds like a lot so go slow.  Also remember, not that I know from experience, but some folks have said that it can take a few days or weeks before you feel the restriction.
