lap band slipage
I have acid reflex which started bothering 7 days ago. It involved throwing up alot. Went to pcp and she gave me what she thinks. it might be. This is day 8 and I woke up not to good. Visited the bathroom fast. About an hour later I noticed a bump in my adomen. It is a little sore and it is aggravated when touched. Is this a slippage? If so, is it my port or my lap band? Going to the surgeon today. Any feed back will be helpful.'
Thank you in advance.

Tracy....I am not a lapband patient but if I was a betting person I would say it sounds like your port has flipped to me. But as I said I am not a lapband patient so I am only speculating on what your problem is. Good luck to you and hope that your surgeon can make you feel better today. Prayers coming your way.

I can't imagine how you could feel a bump from a slipped band, it is tucked away too deep for that. And a flipped port wouldn't make you sick!
So, no helpful suggestions - just to say i hope everything is OK and your doc can sort it for you.

Tracy,
You said you went to your PCP - what did she say was causing the reflux and vomiting? Did she do any tests, like an upper GI x-ray?
Have you had eating problems lately (PB's, sliming, stuck episodes). Does the vomiting happen when you eat, or at other times? Are these symptoms constant or intermittent? What do you mean by: "woke up not to good. Visited the bathroom fast"? Do you mean you felt nauseated when you woke up and had to run to the bathroom to vomit? Or do you mean you had diarrhea? Or what?
Is the bump in your abdomen near your port incision? Have you done anything lately (lifting, exercise) that could have stressed your abdominal muscles and therefore irritated your port site?
When you say, "Is this a slippage?" are you asking if the reflux a slippage, or the vomiting, or the bathroom visit, or the abdominal pump?
Reflux can be caused by a band slip, but it can also be caused by a too-tight band, in which case you may need an unfill. It can also be caused by an untreated hiatal hernia, which would need surgery to repair it.
Vomiting can be caused by a band slip, but it can also be caused by the flu or an intestinal bug (plenty of that going around at this time of year). Ditto for diarrhea.
The bump in your abdomen could be a flipped port, but it could also be scar tissue and/or an incisional hernia. I seriously doubt that the bump is related to your band itself - it's just too far away from your band.
I had a band slip that caused constant reflux, chest pain, difficulty eating, and finally difficulty even drinking clear liquids. A complete unfill and rest period cured it.
I also had a port flip, but I had no idea it had flipped until my surgeon and her NP kept having a harder and harder time accessing my port for fills. I didn't feel or look any different because of it - no bump, no pain, nothing.
Good luck,
Jean

All of this started after my last fill. I have had episodes of this before I had the band but not to this extent.my pcp order a test for h.pylori. Should know the results in a couple of days. If it came back negative she was going to order an upper GI. I had dry throwing up this morning. I can felt the bump when I pressed my hand over my adomen (right side). Other wise I am feeling better today than I have in days. Staying on liquids and crackers. Just scared about going to the surgeons if it is a slipage. Feel I screwed up somehow. Thank you for your feed back. It was helpful.
