Out of control on real food
Ok had surgery 12-30 going for first fill tomorrow. I did good calorie wise on liquid diet but not so good integrating real food + had a bday which didnt help...weight loss slowed tramatically when real foods kicked in and choices not the best...i'm a food addict that really plans to make it work this time so writing down food choices, how they made me feel so I can choose better next time...gonna go back to liq protein for a few days after fill to get back on track but wanted to know how you handled transitioning to real food and what your food/meal choices have been like. Thanks!
If you check back, there is thread about a day ago entitlted something like Helping Newbies, Sample Menus.

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
My surgery was a couple weeks before yours. After a liquid diet for 4 weeks, 2 pre-op and 2 post-op I was more than ready for some real food!!! The first thing I ate was some egg salad and it tasted soooo good. My doc's food plan consists of protein and veggie or fruit 3X a day with 1 snack in the evening of yogurt and fruit. That's what I try to eat most of the time. No, I have not been perfect and never will be. Like yesterday cause of superball party I tasted a couple things
certainly not on my food plan. I made chili to bring so that I'd be sure to have something that I could eat with no guilt. I too am a food addict and on most days I try to have the mindset that I am eating to live not living to eat. Having my band and eating such small amts of food kinda has taken the joy out of eating. For me, if the food is too exciting I want to eat more of it so I keep it kinda boring. It's like, why go thru a lot of effort to make yummy things if I'm only getting a taste of it which is what 1/3C of protein is like!!! Like today my lunch and dinner is the same exact thing.
Leftover pork and veggie. HoHum. For me, for now, it's working.
Also at my last dr appt I asked if I had to count calories. I was told, NO. If I stick to the RIGHT portions of the RIGHT food I do not have to be concerned with calories. It's true. Seems a lot easier that way.
