So, I had Lap-Banding on Wednesday, and so far things are going pretty well. I'm not having a lot of incisional pain, but I am having a few issues that I wonder if anyone else has dealt with.

First off, I had a bad reaction to the contrast they gave me during the swollow study, and it caused a lot of gas. My surgeon reccomended that I take Gas-X, and walk around. I have been doing all of that but I am still having a lot of gas pain and pressure.

I am also stuggling to get in all of my protein shakes. I am really not hungry, and after a while, the gas pains start making me nausous and I can't drink anymore.

Any reccomendations for the discomfort, and how to get in more protien? I have not been the best about getting all of my fluids, which I am working hard on resolving today.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi - When I was recovering, I set my timer for 10 minutes, walked laps around the house and then rested for 20 minutes.  I did that and took GasX and it started relieving the pain.  Also I was bending over twisting, and changing positions often.

For the protein, I think just do the best you can. Sip them and liquids over a period of time.  One thing I found I was doing wrong is blending my protein drinks in the blender and introducing a LOT of air!

Hang in there!!!

I never even thought about the fact that the blender might not be helping me. I will have to start stirring, LOL!

I will continue with the laps around the house.

walking up and down my block helped with the air retained after the surgery.
My surgeon was Vasquez and I live in Clifton, not far from you.
Who did your surgery? Do you need a good nutritionist to help you?

I am still feeling a bit weak for walking outside. (I had a bad go for the first few days due to some allergies to pain medications.) I have been doing laps around my house, which does help.

I had my surgery through Dr. Viamakis' office out of Englewood. Her partner, Dr. Silvestri did the actual surgery. I love their practice. Their team has a psychologist, 2 nutritionists, a fitness instructor and a patient mentor program. They are amazing, and I highly reccomend them.

 Congrats for going through surgery.
I agree with all that was said.
Did you try already made shakes so you don't have to deal with the air.

Walk Walk Walk. Walk Walk
